Домінантні концепти в романі Джоджо Мойєс "Корабель наречених"

Abstract

Стаття присвячена дослідженню домінантних концептів у романі Джоджо Мойєс «Корабель наречених». Для аналізу вибрано роман «Корабель наречених» популярної британської письменниці для визначення домінантних концептів, характерних для ідіостилю цієї авторки. Автори дотримуються позиції, що, характеризуючи поняття ідіостилю, важливо усвідомлювати, що у творчості певного автора розрізняються твори або тексти, між якими встановлюються відношення семантичної еквівалентності за різними текстовими параметрами: способом структурування ситуації, єдністю концепції, композиційним принципом, звуковою та ритміко-синтаксичною організацією. Особливу увагу приділено поняттю «концепт» та його типам. Зазначено, що лінгвістичне розуміння цього поняття нині не є предметом палких дискусій, оскільки існує кілька усталених розумінь цього поняття, залежно від вибраної сфери дослідження, скажімо, когнітивна семантика, лінгвокультурологія, тощо. Однак термін «концепт» використовується й в інших гуманітарних науках із початку XX століття, зокрема в літературознавстві, у зв’язку з посиленням міждисциплінарних тенденцій. Перспективи використання цього терміна в літературознавстві широкі: це зумовлено міждисциплінарними тенденціями в сучасній науці. Виділення такої домінанти художнього тексту, як «концепт», дасть змогу поглибити дослідження в галузі літературознавства через аналіз лінгвістичної, культурної та психолінгвістичної складових частин літературного твору. У творі британської письменниці Джоджо Мойєс «Корабель наречених» (Jojo Moyes. The Ship of Brides. London: Hodder, 2005) спостерігаємо гіперконцепт LIFE та такі гіпоконцепти, як SEA, SHIP EMPLOYEES, LIFE CONDITIONS, TRAVEL, SPACE, COLOUR, LOVE, PERSON, FEELING, COMMUNICATION.

The presented research focuses on the analysis of dominant concepts in Jojo Moyes’ novel “The ship of brides”. The novel “The ship of brides” by the popular British writer was chosen for the analysis with the aim to determine the dominant concepts characteristic of the author’s idiostyle. The authors of the research paper take the position that, characterizing the concept of idiostyle, it is important to realize that in the creativity of a particular author there are works or texts between which the relationship of semantic equivalence is established according to different textual parameters: method of structuring the situation, unity of concept, compositional principles, sound and rhythmic-syntactic organization. Particular attention is paid to the notion of “concept” and its types. It is noted that the linguistic understanding of this notion is not the subject of heated discussions today, as there are several established understandings of it, depending on the chosen field of study, such as cognitive semantics, linguocultural studies, etc. However, the term “concept” has been used in other humanities since the early twentieth century, in particular in literary studies, in connection with the strengthening of interdisciplinary trends. Prospects for the use of this term in literary studies are wide which is due to interdisciplinary trends in modern science. Highlighting such a dominant of a literary text as “concept” will allow deepening research in the field of literary criticism through the analysis of linguistic, cultural and psycholinguistic components of a literary work. In the work of British writer Jojo Moyes (The Ship of Brides. London: Hodder, 2005) we observe a hyperconcept LIFE as well as hypoconcepts SEA, SHIP EMPLOYEES, LIFE CONDITIONS, TRAVEL, SPACE, COLOR, LOVE, FEELING, COMMUNICATION.
