Смислотвірний мотив художнього прозового тексту і переклад

Abstract

Теорія мотиву відкрила нові можливості аналізу тексту з позиції смислотворення й не залишилася поза увагою зарубіжних науковців. Проте в українській науковій традиції продуктивні характеристики цього методу вивчено недостатньо. Пропонована стаття є спробою заповнити цю нішу. Розвідку присвячено огляду, аналізу й підсумку теоретичних відомостей про смислотвірний мотив художнього прозового тексту з позиції перекладу. Мовимо про структуровану, методологічну основу розуміння і тлумачення смислу в тексті оригіналу та тексті перекладу, яку частково ілюструємо на прикладі роману Дж. Сондерса “Lincoln in the Bardo” і його українського та німецького перекладів. Резюмовано роль системно-функційної лінгвістики М. Галідея, з’ясовано контури обопільного системного прирощення смислу тексту до (лейт)мотиву, передусім в аспекті роз’яснення та тлумачення тексту стосовно смислотвірних патернів. Окрему увагу приділено концепції перекладу як відтворенню смислу в контексті. Інтерпретація цього смислу полягає в удосконаленні розуміння смислу тексту оригіналу. Висвітлено основні орієнтири сприйняття (творення, доповнення) смислу та спілкування посередництвом цього смислу. Мережа потенційного смислу тексту оригіналу накладається на смислотвірний мотив цього тексту й дає змогу збагнути текст як одиницю смислу завдяки теорії мотиву, яка акцентує на розумінні структури та смислів оповідей через пізнання ймовірних художніх світів літератури. Розгорнуто текстовий аналіз зі структурної організації до методу, що показує, як мова артикулює смисл та в який спосіб перекладач художнього тексту покращує розуміння цього смислу для читача. Підсумовано, що перекладання – це не (лише) прерогатива мови, а, радше, питання моделювання смислотвірного мотиву засобами цільової мови посередництвом доступного потенціалу необхідного смислу.

Motif theory opened up new opportunities for text analysis from the point of view of meaning creation and did not remain unnoticed by foreign scholars. However, in the Ukrainian scientific tradition, the productive characteristics of this method have not been sufficiently studied. The proposed article is an attempt to fill this niche. The study is devoted to the review, analysis and summary of theoretical information about the meaning-making motif of the artistic prose text from the perspective of translation. We are considering a structured, methodological basis for understanding and interpreting the meaning in the original text and the translated text, which is partially illustrated by the example of G. Saunders’ novel “Lincoln in the Bardo” and its Ukrainian and German translations. The role of M. Halliday ‘s systemic functional linguistics is summarized, the contours of the mutual methodical overlap of the meaning of the text to the (leit) motif are clarified, first of all in the aspect of cognition and interpretation of the text from the point of view of meaning-making patterns. Special attention is paid to the concept of translation as the reproduction of meaning in the context. The interpretation of this meaning consists in enhancing the understanding of the meaning of the original text. The main vectors of cognition (perception, creation) of meaning and communication through this meaning are highlighted. The web of potential meaning of the original text is superimposed on the meaning-making motif of this text and makes it possible to understand the text as a unit of meaning thanks to the theory of motif, which emphasizes the understanding of the structure and meanings of stories through the comprehension of possible worlds of fictional literature. Textual analysis is developed from structural organization to a method that shows how language articulates meaning and how the translator of a literary text improves the understanding of this meaning for the target reader. It is concluded that translation is not (only) the prerogative of the language, but, rather, the issue of modeling the meaning-making motif by means of the target language through the available potential of the targeted meaning.
