Роль і місце концепту EPIDEMIC в англомовній і концептуальній картинах світу

Abstract

У статті авторка розглядає зміст й основні характеристики концепту EPIDEMIC, визначає роль та місце концепту EPIDEMIC у сучасній англомовній і концептуальній картинах світу, а також аналізує співвідношення понять «мовна картина світу» та «концептуальна картина світу» з іншими картинами світу. Актуальність пояснюється необхідністю перегляду змін, що сталися у колективній свідомості через COVID-19, зокрема тих, що пов’язані з мовою та сприйняттям світу. Аналіз останніх досліджень показав, що тема була популярною у роботах мовознавців у зв’язку з пандемією COVID-19. Утім, було також визначено, що дослідники надають перевагу темам відображення коронавірусу у сучасних дискурсах, мемотворчості та неологізмам цього періоду. Що стосується досліджень концептів, пов’язаних із цією темою, науковці частіше розглядають концепти PANDEMIC, CORONAVIRUS, що є більш звуженими, аніж EPIDEMIC. Метою статті є спроба дослідити роль і місце концепту EPIDEMIC у сучасній англомовній і концептуальній картинах світу. У роботі розглянуто історію поняття «картина світу», а також проаналізовано взаємозв’язок мовної і концептуальної картин світу з іншими. Окрім цього, авторка коротко проаналізувала співвідношення мовної та концептуальної картин світу та виявила, що ККС є ширшим за МКС. Основну частину статті присвячено характеристикам концепту EPIDEMIC, його змісту, особливостям, історичним трансформаціям, а також аналізу ролі та місця концепту у сучасній англомовній і концептуальній картинах світу. Концепт EPIDEMIC – важливий складник сучасного англомовного епідеміологічного дискурсу. Історія його еволюції та набуття нових змістових, ціннісних й образних ознак налічує понад 2 500 років. EPIDEMIC в англомовній картині світу є лінгвокультурним концептом, який включає у себе не лише основні поняттєві ознаки, а й ціннісні, метафоричні та асоціативні складники. Зміст концепту EPIDEMIC зумовлений історичними чинниками, розвитком сфери медицини, а також особливостями англомовної лінгвокультури. Він посідає чільне місце в англомовній і концептуальній картинах світу.

In this article, the author examines the content and main characteristics of the EPIDEMIC concept and defines the role and place of the EPIDEMIC concept in the modern English-language and conceptual picture of the world, and analyzes the relationship between "linguistic picture of the world" and "conceptual picture of the world". The relevance is due to the need to review the changes that have taken place in the collective consciousness through COVID-19, in particular those related to language and perception of the world. An analysis of recent research has shown that the topic has been popular with linguists in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic. However, it was also determined that researchers prefer the topics of coronavirus reflection in modern discourses, memes and neologisms of this period. When it comes to researching concepts related to this topic, scientists are more likely to consider the concepts of PANDEMIC, CORONAVIRUS, which are narrower than EPIDEMIC. The article aims to try to explore the role and place of the EPIDEMIC concept in modern English-language and conceptual pictures of the world. The paper considers the history of the concept of "picture of the world", as well as analyzes the ratio between linguistic and conceptual pictures of the world with others. In addition, the author briefly analyzed the relationship between linguistic and conceptual pictures of the world and found that conceptual picture is broader than language picture. The main part of the article is devoted to the characteristics of the EPIDEMIC concept, its content, features, historical transformations, as well as analysis of the role and place of the concept in modern English and conceptual pictures of the world. The EPIDEMIC concept is an important component of modern English-language epidemiological discourse. The history of its evolution and acquisition of new semantic, value and figurative features is more than 2500 years old. EPIDEMIC in the English-language picture of the world is a linguistic and cultural concept that includes not only the basic conceptual features but also value, metaphorical and associative components. The content of the EPIDEMIC concept is determined by historical factors, the development of medicine, as well as the features of English-language linguistics. It occupies a prominent place in the English-language and conceptual picture of the world.
