Невтомний дослідник на полі української мовознавчої науки: професор Кость Кисілевський

Abstract

У статті висвітлено основні віхи життєвого шляху й наукової діяльності видатного українського мовознавця й педагога К. Кисілевського. Установлено, що деякі аспекти лінгвістичного доробку вченого дотепер є маловідомими для українців, оскільки більшість його наукових праць опубліковано в діаспорних виданнях. Зазначено, що невелика частина матеріалів про вченого зберігається в архіві Українського вільного університету в Мюнхені (Німеччина). З’ясовано, що багаторічна наукова діяльність талановитого лінгвіста присвячена головно дослідженням із діалектології. У цій царині науковець запропонував нову класифікацію українських говорів, засновану на генетично-історичному принципі. Указано, що дослідник вивчав давні українські пам’ятки у своїх працях «Мовні особливості староукраїнських пам’яток XI–XIV ст. на тлі Кодексу Ганкенштайна» та «Мова «Учительних євангелій» XVI–XVII ст. в Національному музеї у Львові», а також досліджував питання українського правопису (праця «Історія українського правописного питання. Спроба синтези») та інші, у яких зарекомендував себе досвідченим науковцем. Саме розвідками з діалектології та історії мови мовознавець посів гідне місце в україністиці. Особливу увагу зосереджено на лексикографічному доробку науковця, який дотепер є ще не достатньо вивченим. Проаналізовано «Словничок української мови і головні правописні правила та замітки до відміни» (Станіславів, 1927), «Українсько-польський і польсько-український словник» (у співавторстві з проф. Є. Грицаком) (Львів, 1931), «Правописний словничок» (Львів, 1934), які відіграли велику роль не лише в галицьких школах, а й у державних установах, задовольнивши нагальні потреби того часу. У результаті лексикографічного опису цих словників виявлено, що в їхній структурі використано алфавітний принцип побудови реєстру слів, представлено правописну, акцентуаційну та граматичну характеристики гасел. Засвідчено, що книги є високоякісними виданнями і залишаються авторитетними та актуальними дотепер, а сам автор заслуговує на те, щоб його ім’я назавжди було вписане в історію українського словникарства ХХ століття.

The article highlights the main data concerning life and scientific activity of the outstanding Ukrainian linguist and teacher K. Kysilevskyi. It is established that some aspects of the linguistic achievements of the scholar are still little known to the Ukrainians, as most of his works have been published by diaspora. It is noted that a small part of the materials about the scientist is stored in the archives of the Ukrainian Free University in Munich (Germany). It has been found that the long-term scientific activity of the talented linguist is mainly devoted to the research in dialectology. The scientist proposed a new classification of the Ukrainian dialects in this area, based on the genetic-historical principle. It is stated that the researcher studied ancient Ukrainian monuments in his works “Linguistic features of old Ukrainian monuments of XI-XIV centuries taking into consideration the Code of Hankenstein” and “The language of “the Teaching Gospels of the 16th–17th centuries at the National Museum in Lviv” as well as he conducted a research on language history, especially the issue of the Ukrainian spelling (his work “The History of the Ukrainian spelling issue. An attempt at synthesis”) and others, where he proved to be an experienced scholar. It was the linguist who took a worthy place in the Ukrainian studies with his research in dialectology and in the history of language. Particular attention is paid to the lexicographic work of the scientist, which is still insufficiently studied. “The Dictionary of the Ukrainian Language and essential rules and notes for cancellation” (Stanislaviv, 1927), “The Ukrainian-Polish and the Polish-Ukrainian dictionary” (co-authored with Prof. E. Hrytsak) (Lviv, 1931), “The spelling dictionary” (Lviv, 1934) were analyzed, which played an important role not only in Galician schools, but also in public institutions, thus meeting the urgent needs of the scholar’s activity time. It was found that as a result of lexicographic description of these dictionaries the alphabetical principle of construction of the register of words in their structure is implemented, the spelling, accentuation and grammatical characteristics of slogans are presented. It is proved that his books are of a high-quality and to some extent remain authoritative and relevant to this day, and the author deserves that his name be forever inscribed in the history of the Ukrainian lexicography of the 20th century.
