Функційно-семантичні особливості категорії заперечення в сучасній англійській мові

Abstract

У статті на матеріалі прозових творів англійських та американських авторів XX сторіччя досліджено конструкції, у формі котрих присутній заперечний елемент, проте ці конструкції передають різноманітні відтінки ствердження. Стаття присвячена дослідженню явища, що знаходиться на перетині двох категорій, заперечного за формою, проте стверджувального за змістом. Актуальність теми статті зумовлено низкою факторів, а саме: наявними в лінгвістиці розбіжностями та протиріччями в трактуванні статусу категорії заперечення та її взаємодії з іншими категоріями; недостатньою розробленістю питання про існування імпліцитного твердження у висловлюваннях із наявністю негативних елементів; відсутністю комплексного прагмасемантичного аналізу конструкцій, негативних за формою, котрі не мають негативного значення. Аналізується асиметрія плану вираження та плану змісту лінгвістичної категорії заперечення на прикладі негативних висловлювань, що мають позитивне значення; виділяються такі семантичні групи за видами опозиційних заміщень: нейтралізація негативної ознаки, транспозиція негативної ознаки та нейтралізація ускладненої негативної ознаки; виводиться алгоритм розуміння заперечення, що передає ствердження (ЗПС); вибудовується польова структура й визначаються лексико-семантичні індикатори цього явища; виокремлюються прагматичні та стилістичні особливості, що характеризують уживання (ЗПС). Метою дослідження є комплексний опис семантичних, прагматичних і стилістичних особливостей структур, що містять заперечення, яке передає ствердження. Для вирішення поставлених завдань застосовуємо комплексний метод дослідження, що включає контекстуальний, компонентний, трансформаційний і прагмастилістичний аналіз, а також метод перефразування та кількісного аналізу. Отримані результати можуть бути використані в курсах прагмалінгвістики, стилістики, лінгвістичної інтерпретації тексту, а також на практичних заняттях із цих дисциплін

In the article on the material of prose works of English and American authors of the XX century the constructions in the form of which there is a negative element are investigated, however these constructions transfer various shades of the statement. This article is devoted to the study of the phenomenon, which is at the intersection of two categories, negative in form, but affirmative in content. The relevance of the topic of this article is due to a number of factors, namely: existing differences in linguistics and contradictions in the interpretation of the status of the category of negation and its interaction with other categories; insufficient elaboration of the question of the existence of an implicit statement in statements with the presence of negative elements; the lack of a comprehensive pragmasemantic analysis of constructions that are negative in form and do not have a negative meaning. The article analyzes the asymmetry of the plan of expression and the plan of content of the linguistic category of negation on the example of negative statements that have a positive meaning; the following semantic groups are distinguished by types of opposition substitutions: neutralization of a negative feature, transposition of a negative feature and neutralization of a complicated negative feature the algorithm of understanding of the negation transferring the statement (NTS) is deduced; the field structure is built and lexical-semantic indicators of this phenomenon are determined; pragmatic and stylistic features that characterize the use (NTC) are distinguished. The purpose of this study is a comprehensive description of the semantic, pragmatic and stylistic features of the structures that contain the negation that conveys the statement. A complex research method was used to solve the set tasks, which includes contextual, component, transformational and pragmastylistic analysis, as well as the method of paraphrasing and quantitative analysis. The obtained results can be used in courses of pragmalinguistics, stylistics, linguistic interpretation of the text, as well as in practical classes in these disciplines.
