Спроба латинізації українського письма на Закарпатті під час Першої світової війни

Abstract

For the period of 1914-1916 the Hungarian govemment made an effort to introduce the Latin alphabit of the Hungarian variant into school and church of Mukachevo's and Pryashiv's Greek-Catholic Bishopric. Among the most active doers of this idea were the Ministery of Education and 'Society of Greek-Catholic Hungarians" leaded bу Emil Mellesh. The members of the Mukachevo's Bishopric Commission (bishop А.Рарр, priest A.Voloshyn, Р.Неbеу, S.Sabov, H.Shuba) spoke against the reform planned bу the Government. In 1915 the Latin alphabit was however introduced into school of Pryashiv; in 1916 the same reform was performed in school of Mukachevo's Bishopric too. Тhе article of Voloshyn А. "Protection of Cyrillic alphabit" the fixing up of the national awareness of Ukrainians in Zakarpattya, and popularized Ukrainian Literature Language together with its traditional writing - Cyrillic alphabet.
