Стратегії Сета Ґрема-Сміта і Бена Вінтерса в мешап-трансформуванні романів Джейн Остін і Льва Толстого

Abstract

Мешап-проза у 2020-х рр. переходить у фазу дифузії у фентезійному масштабі. Метою пропонованої статті є вперше визначити специфіку ідеологічних стратегій у практично не досліджених романах «Гордість і упередження і зомбі» Дж. Остін і С. Ґрема-Сміта, «Розум і почуття та гади морські» Дж. Остін і Б. Вінтерса та «Андроїд Кареніна» Л. Толстого і Б. Вінтерса. Ключовими при цьому стають виявлення своєрідності інтертексту вказаних творів, з’ясування трансформації в мешап-обробках пафосного складника класичних текстів і гендерного акценту в варіаціях романів Дж. Остін. Сучасний фентезійний роман насичений мешап-елементами, що свідчить про продуктивність мешап-рішень, демонструє їхній варіативний спектр, а також підґрунтя появи фентезійного піджанру. При зовнішньому збереженні структури базового тексту «Гордості і упередженні» Дж. Остін, мешап-версія С. Ґрема-Сміта набуває нової ідейної векторності. Посилений т. зв. співавтором патріотичний пафос роману органічно вписаний у текст ХХІ ст.: увиразненню національної ідеї сприяє доданий С. Ґремом-Смітом східний вектор в інтертексті роману. Для підкреслення патріотичного пафосу в мешап-версії «Анни Кареніної» Б. Вінтерс, як і в «Розумі і почуттях та гадах морських», також звертається до мотиву національного протистояння невідомому злу – інопланетній загрозі. Водночас зауважимо виведення в мешап-версії на перший план глобальних проблем паралельно зі зниженням духовно-етичного складника вихідного тексту, а також певну його фарсовізацію. У трансформуванні класичних романів Дж. Остін і Л. Толстого мешап-романісти С. Ґрем-Сміт і Б. Вінтерс застосовують спільний жанровий інструментарій в аранжуванні співвідносних сюжетних ситуацій, проте мають дещо відмінні ідеологічні стратегії. Останні стосуються, в першу чергу, питань власне національної ідентичності та отримують позитивну векторність стосовно оригінального твору – у випадку з текстами Дж. Остін і негативну – у разі з текстом Л. Толстого. Активний у мешап-варіаціях англійського класика гендерний фактор органічний посиленню жіночого начала у світовому фентезі початку ХХІ ст. у цілому. Вагому роль у моделюванні «апгрейдної» художньої реальності класичних романів отримують характер інтертексту і пафос. Очевидним у компаративному вивченні стає також виховний потенціал мешап-романів. Положення цієї статті можуть бути розгорнуті й доповнені в ширших дослідженнях мешап-романістики, а їхню верифікацію забезпечує системний розгляд сучасного фентезі як динамічного цілого.

Mash-up prose in the 2020s is entering a phase of diffusion on a fantasy scale. The aim of our article is to define for the first time the specifics of ideological strategies in practically unexplored novels “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies” by J. Austen and S. Grahame-Smith, “Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters” by J. Austen and B. Winters and “Android Karenina” by Tolstoy and B. Winters. The key for us is to identify the originality of the intertext of these artistic works, to clarify the transformation in the mash-up processing of the pathetic component of classical texts and of the gender emphasis in variations of J. Austen’s novels. The modern fantasy novel is full of mash-up elements, which testifies to the productivity of mash-up solutions, demonstrates their variable spectrum, as well as it shows the basis for the emergence of the fantasy subgenre. With the external preservation of the structure of the basic text of “Pride and Prejudice” by J. Austen, the mash-up version of S. Grahame- Smith acquires a new ideological vector. Reinforced by so-called co-author of the patriotic pathos of the novel is organically inscribed in the text of the XXI century: the expression of the national idea is facilitated by the eastern vector added by S. Grahame-Smith in the context of this novel. To emphasize the patriotic pathos in the mash-up version of “Anna Karenina”, B. Winters, as in “Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters”, also addresses the motive of national opposition to an unknown evil – the alien threat. At the same time, we note the bringing to the fore plan in the mash-up version of global issues in parallel with the reduction of the spiritual and ethical component of the source text, as well as its some farce. In the transformation of the classic novels by J. Austen and L. Tolstoy, the mash-up novelists S. Grahame-Smith and B. Winters use common genre tools in arranging related plot situations, but have somewhat different ideological strategies. These strategies touch, in the first line, of the questions of the national identity and accept the positive vector in comparison of the original artistic work – in case of the texts by J. Austen and negatively – in case of the text by L. Tolstoy. The active in the mash-up variations of the English classic novels of the gender factor is organic to the strengthening of the feminine principle in the world fantasy of the beginning of the XXI century. in general. The nature of intertext and pathos play an important role in modeling the “upgrade” artistic reality of the analyzed classic novels. The educational potential of meshap-novels also becomes obvious in their comparative study. The provisions of this article can be expanded and supplemented in broader studies of mash-up novels, and their verification is provided by a systematic consideration of modern fantasy as a dynamic whole.
