Суфіксоїди в українській медичній термінології

Abstract

У статті аналізується функціонування у медичній термінології інтернаціональних терміноелементів, які виступають кінцевими конструктами складних слів. Такі словотвірні терміноелелементи отримали назву суфіксоїдів, тобто частин слова, які мають ознаки як кореня, так і суфікса. Суфіксоїди належать до групи афіксоїдів, під якими дослідники розуміють одиниці маргінального типу, які наближаються за своєю словотвірною функцією (здатність утворювати нові слова з одним і тим компонентом) до афіксів ‒ до суфікса (для прикінцевих компонентів складних утворень) або префікса (для перших компонентів)». Використання подібних конструктів є характерною рисою системи медичних термінів, які повинні характеризуватися універсальністю та логічністю. Медична термінологія є дуже багатою на одиниці такого типу, бо базою для неї виступають одиниці греко-латинського походження, які, з одного боку мають обмежену сферу використання, а з іншого – використовуються у великій кількості термінів. Саме їх висока частота використання та наявність конкретного семантичного значення є основними причинами виділення подібних одиниць в окрему групу словотвірних конструктів. Автор доводить, що суфіксоїди можна класифікувати за семантичним критерієм: 1) назви галузей медицини та найменування спеціалістів у цих галузях; 2) терміни на позначення хвороб та патологічних станів; 3) найменування пристроїв, інструментів та процесів діагностування; 4) терміни на позначення лікування та різних видів хірургічного втручання. Детально розглядаються суфіксоїди з точки зору ономасіології, визначається затвердження за певними суфіксоїдами ономасіологійних базисів «стан» та «процедура». У статусі суфіксоїда той чи інший структурний елемент складного слова затверджується не відразу. Як правило, діахронічний шлях суфіксоїда включає наступні етапи: представленість у складі композитів, окремі виділення компонентів, але вже із зазначенням їхньої семантики, визнання елемента в статусі суфіксоїда, семантика якого спочатку трактується варіативно. Таким чином, кожен структурний елемент, що набув статусу суфіксоїдності, має свою історію становлення, в результаті якого в загальній системі мови сформувалася підсистема семантично значущих компонентів слів гібридного характеру, що демонструють системні зв’язки різного типу. Перспективи подальших розвідок у класифікації ономасіологійних моделей медичних термінів полягають у виділенні ономасіологійних ознак, що може використовуватися на практичних заняттях з основ медичної термінології у закладах медичної освіти.

The article analyzes the functioning of international terminological elements in medical terminology, which are the final constructs of compound words. Such word-forming term elements are called suffixes, namely parts of the word that have features of both the root and the suffix. Suffixoids belong to the group of affixoids, under which researchers mean marginal units that are close in their word-forming function (ability to form new words with the same component) to affixes – to the suffix (for the final components of compound words) or prefix (for the first components)». The use of such word-building elements is a characteristic feature of the system of medical terms, which must be characterized by universality and logic. Medical terminology is very rich in units of this type, because the basis for it are units of Greco-Latin origin, which, on the one hand, have a limited scope, and on the other hand, they are used in a large number of terms. Their high frequency of use and the presence of a specific semantic meaning are the main reasons for the allocation of such units in a separate group of word-forming constructs. The author argues that suffixes can be classified by semantic criteria: 1) the names of branches of medicine and the names of specialists in these fields; 2) terms for the designation of diseases and pathological conditions; 3) names of devices, tools and diagnostic processes; 4) terms for treatment and various types of surgery. Suffixoids are considered in detail from the point of view of onomasiology, the belonging of certain suffixoids to onomasiological bases “state” and “procedure” is determined. One or another structural element of a compound word is not reffered immediately to the status of suffix. As a rule, the diachronic path of the suffix includes the following stages: representation in composites, separate selection of components, but with indication of their semantics, recognition of the element in the status of suffix, the semantics of which are initially interpreted in different ways. Thus, each structural element that has acquired the status of suffixes has its own history of formation, as a result of which a subsystem of semantically significant components of hybrid words is formed in the general system of language, demonstrating systemic connections of different types. Prospects for further research include the classification of onomasiological models of medical terms, identification of onomasiological features that can be used in practical classes on basics of medical terminology in medical education.
