| Abstract: | In the present article а group common names of plants is analysed, which were inherited bу Ukrainian frоm the proto-slavonic language. Detailed information about semantic structure, functioning, territorial spread and etymology of twenty botanical names in the Ukrainian literary language and in its dialects is given (such as, рослина, зілля, трава, дерево, кущ, бур'ян, гриб, збіжжя, ярина, озимина and some other). |
