Краса Північного Причорномор’я у творчості Аркасів (діда та онука)

Abstract

Автор аналізує прозову спадщину Миколи Аркаса III, який виріс і сформувався на Миколаївщині. Згадується його національне та біографічне коріння. Микола Аркас-молодший у своїй «Повісті про наш степ широкополий», яка була опублікована в 1975-1978 рр. в українському політичному суспільно-науково-літературному журналі «Визвольний шлях» у Лондоні, зобразив спогади про Україну не лише в картинах дитинства та юності, а й створив мозаїчне полотно з історії Південного Причорномор’я на тлі всієї історії України, акцентуючи увагу на народній культурі та побуті. Продемонстровані його знання про природознавство, звичаї та міфи рідного краю. Як більшість письменників-емігрантів, він інтерпретує історичне минуле свого народу в контексті європейської історії. Образ давньої України з її природними багатствами та звичаями культури посідає провідне місце в «Повісті про наш крок широкодолий». Одним із провідних мотивів «Повісті про наш крок широкодолий» є ностальгія за втраченим «раєм» – рідною домівкою та неможливістю повернутися на батьківщину за життя. Подорож у садибі предків на берегах Південного Бугу, до Чорного моря, на простори Бузьких степів показана автором, щоб передати свою любов до рідного краю та його людей. Водночас звернення до сучасних автору молодих українців 60-70-х років ХХ століття сповнене віри в можливість повернення України до волі, незалежності, за яку збройно боровся Микола Аркас-третій. І все це молодший успадкував від діда. Адже М. Аркас-старший – автор «Історії України-Русі». Відомий ще своєю оперою «Катерина» Микола Аркас-старший є яскравим прикладом свідомого виховання своїх дітей. «Повісті про наш степ широкополий» до сих пір не розглянуто літературознавцями докладно. Аркас-молодший, знаходячись поза межами батьківщини, слідував традиції емігрантської української літератури ХХ століття, зображуючи свою українську ідентичність та намагаючись зафіксувати, утримати при житті літературні традиції України. Розглядаються традиції у художній творчості М.Аркаса-молодшого, який засвоїв і духовно успадкував патріотичні й естетичні здобутки свого діда.

The author analyzes the prose heritage of Mykola Arkas III, who grew up and was formed in Mykolayiv region. His national and biographical roots are mentioned. M.Arkas Jr. in his “Povist pro nash step shyrokodolyi” (“The Tale of Our Broad Steppe”), which was published in 1975-1978 in the Ukrainian political, social, scientific and literature magazine “Liberation Path” in London, depicted the memories about Ukraine not only in the pictures of his childhood and adolescence, but also created a mosaic canvas on the history of the Southern Black Sea region on the background of the entire history of Ukraine, emphasizing folk culture and everyday life, involving into these pictures his knowledge of the natural sciences, customs and myths of the native land. Like most emigrant writers, he interprets the historical past of his nation in the context of European history. The image of ancient Ukraine with its natural resources and culture customs occupies a leading place in “Povist pro nash step shyrokodolyi.” One of the leading motifs of “Povist...” and of the lyrical digression, in particular, is nostalgia for the lost “paradise” – the native home and inability to return to his homeland during the life. A journey within the estate of the ancestors on the banks of the Southern Bug, to the Black Sea, on the expanses of the Bug steppes is provided by the author to present his love to his native land and its people. At the same time, an appeal to contemporary to the author young Ukrainians of the 60-70’s of the 20th century is full of faith in the possibility of Ukraine to return to the freedom, independence, for which Mykola Arkas III was fighting by weapons and the word. And the younger inherited all this from his grandfather. After all, M. Arkas Sr. is the author of “History of Ukraine-Rus”. Mykola Arkas Sr., known for his opera “Kateryna”, is a shining example of the conscious upbringing of his children. “Povist pro nash step shyrokodolyi” has not yet been considered in detail by literary critics. Arkas Jr., being outside his homeland, followed the traditions of emigrant Ukrainian literature of the twentieth century, depicting his Ukrainian identity and trying to capture, keep alive the literary traditions of Ukraine.
