Відтворення термінології сомельє у перекладі

Abstract

У статті на матеріалі роману Б’янки Боскер «Схиблені на вині. Мандрівка у вишуканий світ сомельє» було проаналізовано способи відтворення термінології сомельє при перекладі; зосереджено увагу на властивостях термінів загалом та на особливостях їх відтворення у перекладі; досліджено функціонування термінів та їх роль у художніх текстах. Було виявлено, що термін у художніх текстах в основному є елементом стилю та основою створення художнього образу, а особливість перекладу термінів в художньому тексті пов’язана із взаємозалежністю елементів тексту; визначено, що основним принципом перекладу термінів є еквівалентний переклад, але у художньому тексті важливо зрозуміти, що знають і почувають герої, тому іноді автори створюють власні терміни і перекладачі використовують різні способи перекладу, щоб адаптувати їх до цільової мови. Термінологія сомельє, є основою роману Б’янки Боскер «Схиблені на вині. Мандрівка у вишуканий світ сомельє», тому автором було створено класифікацію термінів сомельє у романі Б’янки Боскер і, відповідно, весь отриманий у результаті вибірки матеріал було розподіллено на 4 категорії: винна галузь, діяльність сомельє, сорти винограду, конкурси сомельє. Під час аналізу роману було визначено, які способи перекладу використовував перекладач. Було встановлено, що в основному перекладач вдавався до калькування, транскодування, генералізації та конкретизації, щоб передати терміни сомельє українською мовою. Проаналізовано, що більшість термінів було перекладено за допомогою транскодування та калькування, а спосіб генералізації був використаний рідше всіх, отже було встановлено, що терміни сомельє у тексті мають бути відтворенні якнайближче до їх відповідників, адже саме вони є основою створення тексту у романі Б’янки Боскер. Під час дослідження було встановлено, що роман Б’янки Боскер насичений термінами, які допомагають читачеві зрозуміти особливості роботи сомельє та процес становлення професійного сомельє, крім того у тексті терміни відіграють важливу роль, оскільки саме завдяки ним створюється відповідна атмосфера твору, яка дає змогу зрозуміти основну думку автора, і тому їх адекватний переклад відіграє таку важливу роль у перекладі.

In the article based on Bianca Bosker's novel “A Wine-Fueled Adventure Among the Obsessive Sommeliers, Big Bottle Hunters, and Rogue Scientists Who Taught Me to Live for Taste” the ways to render the sommelier field terminology in translation were analyzed. The main attention was paid to the features of terms in general, and to the peculiarities of their translation. The author explores the functioning of terms and their role in fiction texts. It was found that the term in fiction texts is mainly an element of style and the basis for creating an artistic image, and the peculiarity of terms translation in literary texts is related to the interdependence of the elements of the text. It is determined that the basic principle of terms translation is equivalent translation, but in a fiction text, it is important to understand what the characters know and feel, so sometimes authors create their own terms, therefore translators apply different translation methods to adapt them to the target language. Sommelier terminology is the basis of Bianca Bosker's novel “A Wine-Fueled Adventure Among the Obsessive Sommeliers, Big Bottle Hunters, and Rogue Scientists Who Taught Me to Live for Taste”, so the author has drawn up the classification of these sommelier terms which were divided into 4 categories: wine industry, sommelier job, grape varieties, sommelier competitions. While analyzing the novel, the applied translation methods were determined. It has been found that the translator mainly used loan translation, transcoding, generalization and concretization to render the sommelier terms into Ukrainian. It has been analyzed that most terms were translated by transcoding and loan translation, and the method of generalization was used less often, so the author concluded that sommelier terms in the fiction text should be rendered as precise as possible to their equivalents, because they serve as the basis of text in the novel. The study has found that Bianca Bosker's novel is full of terms that help the reader understand the peculiarities of sommelier job and the process of becoming a professional sommelier. In addition, terms play an important role in the text as they help to understand the main idea of the author, and therefore their adequate translation plays such a crucial role in translation.
