Перші образи українських інтелігентів у творах І. Нечуя-Левицького

Abstract

У статті на прикладі творів «Хмари» та «Над Чорним морем» І. Нечуя-Левицького розглядаються образи перших героїв-інтелігентів ХІХ століття, які ввійшли в українську літературу як «нові люди», бо тема інтелігенції тоді ще тільки перебувала на початковій стадії свого розвитку. У ХХ столітті можемо побачити її розквіт у творах багатьох письменників, зокрема І. Франка, М. Коцюбинського, О. Кобилянської, у яких образи інтелігентів вже чітко сформовані в художньому плані, психологічно довершені. Це, насамперед, особистості, які усвідомлюють своє призначення та обов’язки перед суспільством. Варто зазначити, що ці персонажі створені на основі досвіду своїх попередників. Досліджуючи перші образи героїв-інтелігентів І. Нечуя-Левицького, зауважимо, що вони не є сформованими в психологічному плані, їхні дії не завжди співвідносяться з суспільними потребами, важливі цілі так і залишилися не досягнутими. У той же час, хочемо наголосити, що ці персонажі залишаються цінними та вважливими, адже вони своїми незакінченими справами, нереалізованими в тогочасних умовах завданнями, проклали дорогу та дали стимул усім послідовникам. У статті проаналізовано образи Радюка (повість «Хмари») та Комашка (повість «Над Чорним морем»), показано їхні погляди на український народ, мову та культуру, що дає можливість створити загальне уявлення про інтелігента ХІХ ст. Розглянуто цілі, які ставили перед собою перші інтелігенти, засоби, якими користувалися для досягнення поставленої мети. Визначено чинники, які впливали на формування світогляду героїв, та умови, у яких вони розгортали свою діяльність. Висловлено погляди на інтерпретацію характерів тогочасних інтелігентів, їхнє значення у подальшому розвитку теми інтелігенції в українській літературі.

Using the example of the works “Clouds” and “Over the Black Sea” by I. Nechuy-Levytskyi, the article examines the images of the first heroes-intellectuals of the 19th century, who entered Ukrainian literature as «new people», because, in fact, the topic of the intelligentsia was still only at that time the initial stage of its development. Already in the 20th century, we can see its flourishing in the works of many writers, in particular I. Frankо, M. Kotsyubynskyi, O. Kobylyanska, in which the images of intellectuals are already clearly formed in the artistic plan, psychologically perfected. These are, first of all, individuals who are aware of their purpose and duties to society. It is worth noting that these characters were already created based on the experience of their predecessors. Studying the first images of the intellectual heroes of I. Nechuy-Levytskyi, we note that they are not psychologically formed, their actions do not always correlate with social needs, and important goals remain unachieved. At the same time, we want to emphasize that these characters remain valuable and considerate, because they paved the way and gave an incentive to all followers with their unfinished business, unrealized tasks in the conditions of the time. The article analyzes the images of Radyuk (the story “Clouds”) and Komashko (the story “Over the Black Sea”), shows their views on the Ukrainian people, language and culture, which makes it possible to create a general idea of the intellectual of the 19th century. The goals set by the first intellectuals, the means they used to achieve the set goal were considered. The factors that influenced the formation of the worldview of the heroes and the conditions in which they developed their activities were determined. Views are expressed on the interpretation of the characters of the intellectuals of that time, their importance in the further development of the topic of the intelligentsia in Ukrainian literature.
