Класифікація прецедентних імен у романі М. Обами «Becoming»

Abstract

Стаття присвячена здійсненню класифікації прецедентних імен на матеріалі роману М. Обами «Becoming», написаного однією з найвідоміших жінок нашої епохи у 2018 році. Розглянуто типологію прецедентних феноменів та сформульовано дефініцію поняття «прецедентне ім’я» як лінгвокогнітивного вербального феномену, що має фіксовану форму. Зосереджено увагу на особливостях інтенцій авторів, які використовують прецедентні імена у художніх творах та функційних можливостях прецедентних імен. Здійснено класифікацію англомовних прецедентних імен у проаналізованому творі. У результаті аналізу, виділено чотири групи прецедентних імен: прецедентні топоніми, прецедентні антропоніми, прецедентні хрематоніми та прецедентні хрононіми. Встановлено, що найчисельнішою групою є прецедентні топоніми (власні назви місць), які було розділено на підгрупи: хороніми (назви штатів), ойконіми (назви міст), сувереноніми (назви країн), інсулоніми (назви островів) та гідроніми (назви водойм). Охарактеризовано кожну виділену підгрупу топонімів, виокремлено найчастотніші використання авторкою та пояснено причини такого використання на думку автора статті. Групу прецедентних антропонімів розділено на три підгрупи за сферами-джерелами виникнення проаналізованих антропонімів: сфера-джерело «Політика», сфера-джерело «Мистецтво» та сфера-джерело «Релігія». Охарактеризовано групу прецедентних хрематонімів (власних назв матеріальних чи нематеріальних об’єктів, отриманих у результаті культурної діяльності людини). Виявлено, що найменшу групу прецедентних імен складають прецедентні хрононіми (власні назви історично вагомих часових відрізків). Встановлено, що переважна більшість відібраних прецедентних імен із зазначеного роману належить до сфери політики та культури Сполучених Штатів Америки, що підкреслює національно-детермінований образ авторки.

The article is devoted to carrying out the classification of the precedent names based on the material of M. Obama’s novel “Becoming”, written by one of the most prominent women of our time in 2018. In the article the author considers the typology of the precedent phenomena and formulates the definition of the notion “precedent name” as a linguocognitive verbal phenomenon that has a fixated form. The attention is paid to the intentions of the authors who use the precedent names in their fiction and to the functional possibilities of the precedent names. The author classified English precedent names from the analyzed novel. As a result of the analysis, four groups of the precedent names were defined: precedent toponyms, precedent anthroponyms, precedent chrematonyms and precedent chrononyms. It was found out that the most numerous group consists of precedent toponyms (proper names of the places), which was grouped into subgroups: choronyms (names of states), oikonyms (names of cities), sovereignonyms (names of countries), insulonyms (names of islands) and hydronyms (names of bodies of water). The author characterized every distinguished subgroup of the toponyms, underlines the most used ones and explains the reasons for this usage. The group of the precedent anthroponyms was classified into three subgroups according to their source: source sphere “Politics”, source sphere “Art” and source sphere “Religion”. The author also characterized the group of precedent chrematonyms (proper names of material or immaterial objects obtained as a result of human cultural activity). It was found out that the less numerous group consists of the precedent chrononyms (proper names of historically important time segments). It was discovered that the majority of the precedent names found in the mentioned novel is connected to the politics and culture of the United States of America, which underlines the national determined image of the author.
