Описові характеристики образу трікстера в англомовних фольклорних казках Канади

Abstract

Стаття присвячена розкриттю описових характеристик образу трікстера у фольклорних казках. Матеріалом дослідження слугували тексти англомовних фольклорних творів Канади («How Raven brought fire to the Indians», «Rabbit and the Moon-Man», «How Rabbit Deceived Fox», «Rabbit and the Indian Chief»). Аналітичний аналіз теоретичного доробку та наратологічний аналіз фактичного матеріалу, а саме казкових фольклорних творів автентичного населення Канади, уможливили дійти наступних висновків. Було виявлено, що літературна традиція всіх народів світу пронизана образами, серед яких образ трікстера є найбільш розповсюдженим. У фольклорі індіанців Канади зазначений образ репрезентований наступними антропоморфними персонажами-тваринами: Ворон і Заєць. Кожен персонаж, який є втіленням трікстера, має свій індивідуальний набір якостей, що може у різний спосіб бути реалізованим у низці окремих фольклорних творів або у межах одного казкового тексту. Проте, спільними характеристиками, які притаманні образові трікстера та втіленими у більшості англомовних казкових творів Канади, є наступні: амбівалентність його описових характеристик; вміння неусвідомлено змінювати оточуючу його дійсність або творити нову реальність; розважальний характер дій; жадібність і постійний голод; заздрість; хитрість; гонитва за славою або зиском, який буде отримано у якості винагороди, відтак трюкацтво й обман, що допомагають виконувати певну роботу самостійно, чи за допомогою інших, менш кмітливих персонажів; боягузливість; мстивість і жорстокість; попри велику кількість негативних якостей, образові трікстера, що втілився у текстах казкових творів Канади, притаманні й позитивні риси, а саме: гумор, допитливість, боротьба за справедливість, співчуття, готовність допомагати нужденним, захищати ображених і йти на самопожертви.

The article focuses on revealing the descriptive characteristics of the image of trickster in folk tales. A case study of the research is English Canadian folktales («How Raven brought fire to the Indians», «Rabbit and the Moon-Man», «How Rabbit Deceived Fox», «Rabbit and the Indian Chief»). The study of theoretical material and narratological analysis of the text material, namely Canadian aboriginal folk tales, enables to arrive at following conclusions. It is emphasized that literary tradition of every nation all over the world is filled with images, and the image of trickster is among the most frequently occurring. In Canadian folklore the mentioned image is represented by the next anthropomorphic animal characters: Raven and Rabbit. Every character who represents trickster has their own set of features, which could be differently embodied in the sequence of folk tales or within one particular folk tale text. Nevertheless, common characteristics, which are peculiar to the image of trickster and predominantly embodied in English Canadian folktales, are the following: ambivalence of their descriptive characteristic; ability to change and create reality unintentionally; entertaining character of their actions; greediness and hunger; envy; slyness; acting for the sake of fame or benefit, which is rewarded after completing a task; trickery and deception, which help a trickster to conduct particular tasks on their own, or with the help of less witty characters; cowardice and vindictiveness; despite negative traits of the image of trickster, which are embodied in the texts of English Canadian folk tales, the mentioned image has the set of positive characteristics, namely: humor; curiosity; fight for fairness; compassion; readiness to help those who are in need and take the side of those who are disadvantaged; readiness to self-sacrifice.
