Мовностилістичні характеристики ідіостилю Дж. Гріна в українському перекладі (на матеріалі романів Paper Towns та The Fault in Our Stars)

Abstract

Стаття репрезентує результати дослідження особливостей відтворення ідіостилю Джона Гріна в українському перекладі. Проблема ідіостилю розглядається в контексті збереження особливостей індивідуальної творчої манери автора у перекладі. Матеріалом статті обрано романи Джона Гріна Paper towns (2008) та The Fault in Our Stars (2012), а також переклади романів «Паперові міста» (2017) та «Винні зірки» (2017) українською мовою, здійснені Вірою Назаренко. Методологічною базою для практичного аналізу слугують положення сучасного перекладознавства щодо основних стратегій (Л.Венуті), які дозволяють адекватно перекласти художній твір (доместикація та форенізація), та тактик, якими перекладачі послуговуються для реалізації обраної стратегії. У статті обрано класифікацію тактик перекладу, запопоновану Ж. Віне та Ж. Дарбеньє та доповнену Е. Пімом. Метою статті є з’ясування особливостей індивідуального стилю Джона Гріна та відтворення їх у перекладі українською мовою. Виявлено такі особливості творчого стилю письменника, як: утворення значної кількості оказіоналізмів, зокрема, утворених атрибутивними кластерами, використання блендингу, полісемантичних лексичних одиниць, стилістичних засобів, інтертекстуальних одиниць. Предметом дослідження є стратегії та тактики перекладу мовностилістичних одиниць для відтворення підліткового соціолекту в україномовній версії романів. Дослідження показало, що переважаючою стратегією перекладу була доместикація, для реалізації якої перекладачка послуговувалася, здебільшого, такими тактиками, як: модуляція, ампліфікація, конкретизація. На стилістичному рівні ефективними виявилися тактики адаптації, зміни перспективи, модуляції та опущення. Це дало змогу зберегти підлітковий соціолект у перекладах і відтворити емотивний, експресивний та стилістичний колорит романів.

The article focuses on investigating the strategies and solutions for preserving John Green’s idiostyle in the Ukrainian translation. The problem of idiostyle is discussed from the perspective of representing the individual creative manner of the author in the translation of works of fiction. The material for the analysis is John Green’s novels “Paper towns” (2008) and “The Fault in Our Stars” (2012), as well as the Ukrainian translations of the novels “Паперові міста” (2017) and “Винні зірки” (2017) performed by Vira Nazarenko. The methodology of the practical analysis is based on the contemporary theory of translation strategies (Vennuti), the choice of which influences the adequate translation of fiction (the foreignization and domestication strategies), as well as the translation solutions for implementing the selected strategy. In the article we employ the classification of the translation solutions, outlined by Vinay & Darbelnet and later complemented by Pym. The objective of the present research is to discuss the main features of John Green’s idiostyle and the strategies and solutions for preserving them in the Ukrainian translation. The discussed characteristic features of the writer’s individual style include: occasionalisms, attributive clusters, the use of blending and polysemantic lexical units, stylistic devices, and intertextual references. The subject of the article is the strategies and solutions, selected by the translator in order to represent the teenagers’ sociolect in the Ukrainian editions of the novels. The research has proved that the dominant translation strategy was domestication. In order to implement the selected strategy, to represent the teenagers’ sociolect, and to render the emotive, expressive, and stylistic coloring of the novels, the translator mostly employed the following solutions: modulation, amplification, particularization. The translation of the stylistic devices proved effective by means of adaptation, perspective change, modulation, and omission of content. Key words:
