Михайло Лозинський – дослідник і популяризатор творчості Тараса Шевченка

Abstract

Актуальність статті визначено потребою аналізу й узагальненням маловідомого шевченкознавчого доробку М. Лозинського, який виступав і популяризатором творчості митця, і серйозним дослідником його поезій. Уперше на основі автобіографії, листування та розвідок публіциста відтворено його рецепцію творчості Шевченка. Зафіксовано класифікацію ключових тем і образів поезій митця в інтерпретації М. Лозинського. Уточнено, що дослідник, з’ясовуючи провідні аспекти поезій, умістив фрагменти текстів «Гайдамаки», «Кавказ», «І мертвим, і живим…», «Сон» («У всякого своя доля…»), «Давидові псалми. 52», «Іржавець», «Заповіт», «Якби ви знали, паничі…», «Якби тобі довелося…», «Відьма» (1858), «Неофіти», «Москалева криниця», «У нашім раї на землі…», «Чи ми ще зійдемося знову…», «Буває, іноді старий…», «Бували войни й військовії свари…», через що було конфісковано розвідку «Тарас Шевченко. Його життя і значення» (1901). Установлено, що вчений виклав життєпис Шевченка в популярній тоді формі – стислому переказі відомих тоді біографій. Закцентовано увагу на потрактуванні критиком світогляду Шевченка, визначено його національно-політичні й соціальні погляди. Підкреслено, що в замітках літературознавця містилися цінні факти про вшанування пам’яті поета у Наддністрянщині в 1900–1910-х рр. З’ясовано, що критик підносив роль і значення митця в національно-культурному відродженні Галичини. Наголошено, що Шевченків феномен цікавив М. Лозинського не лише як окремий об’єкт студіювання, а передусім як визначальний фактор ренесансу України в першій половині ХІХ ст. Результати нашого дослідження будуть використані в процесі підготовки академічної монографії «Нариси з історії шевченкознавства ХІХ–початку ХХІ століття».

The relevance of the article is determined by the need to analyze and generalize the little-known Shevchenko work of M. Lozynskyi, who was both a popularizer of the artist's work and a serious researcher of his poetry. For the first time, based on the autobiography, correspondence, and intelligence of the publicist, the reception of Shevchenko's work is recreated. The key themes and images of the artist's poems in the interpretation of M. Lozynskyi are recorded. It has been established that the scientist presented Shevchenko's biography in the then-popular form – a concise biography. Attention is focused on the critic's treatment of Shevchenko's aesthetic outlook. It was emphasized that M. Lozynskyi was not talking about Shevchenko's religiosity, but about how the poet treated the human dignity of a woman and her motherhood, how the artist believed in God in his way, and not as the Russian church demanded. It is emphasized that the literary critic's notes contained valuable facts about the commemoration of the poet in Naddnistrianshchyni in the 1900s and 1910s. It was found that the critic emphasized the role and importance of the artist in the national and cultural revival of Galicia. From today's perspective, we can say that the idea of creating an independent Ukrainian state was central to the legacy of Shevchenko and M. Lozynskyi. It is emphasized that the Shevchenko phenomenon interested M. Lozynskyi not only as a separate object of study but primarily as a determining factor of the renaissance of Ukraine in the first half of the 19th century. We believe that the critic expanded the horizons of studying the artist's work in the first decades of the 20th century with his work. The results of our research will be used in the process of preparing the academic monograph “Essays on the history of Shevchenko studies in the 19th–early 21st centuries”. Key words:
