Варіативність вимови як фактор соціальної взаємодії

Abstract

Представлене дослідження присвячене вивченню варіативності вимови як фактору соціальної взаємодії, що є актуальним питанням сьогодення як у лінгвістиці, так і соціології, а також на стику обох наук – соціофонетики. Пояснення закономірностей варіативності звукового боку мови надає змогу розв’язувати різні прикладні та методичні завдання. Об’єктом дослідження обрано соціальну та ситуативну вимову як фактор соціальної взаємодії, предметом – семантично-функціональні ознаки фонетичних характеристик, що притаманні мовленню представників різних прошарків населення. Мета роботи полягала у вивченні чинників, що впливають на ефективність соціальної взаємодії між учасниками комунікації. Аналіз наукової літератури дозволяє стверджувати, що варіативність вимови англійської мови розглядається сучасними соціолінгвістами у двох аспектах: як прояв тенденцій розвитку мови і як засіб ідентифікації та когнітивного розвитку особистості мовця та слухача в соціумі. Вживання у мовленні певних соціальних маркерів надає індексну інформацію про мовця. Соціальна та ситуативна варіативність вимови базується на зіставленні акцентів із загальноприйнятою нормою мови. У британському варіанті англійської мови цієї нормою є Received Pronunciation. Однак, елементи акцентів низького престижу, наприклад, «кокні», який є найвідомішим діалектом робітничого класу Лондону, вживаються як засіб оптимізації соціальної взаємодії, особливо в молодіжному середовищі, що налаштовує людей на більш позитивне ставлення до них. Більш того, під впливом «кокні» у мовленні сучасних лондонців зафіксовано явище «кокніфікація». Таким чином, проведене дослідження дозволяє стверджувати, що в сучасній Великобританії варіативність вимови дійсно є не тільки індикатором приналежності мовця до того чи іншого соціального прошарку, але і способом адаптації мовця до комунікативної ситуації.

The present research is devoted to the study of pronunciation variation as a factor of social interaction which is considered to be a burning issue in linguistics as well as in sociology nowadays, thus, contributing to appearance of sociophonetics. Explanation of regularities of variation of the language sound side allows to solve different applied and methodic tasks. Social and situational pronunciation as a factor of social interaction has been chosen as the object of the research. Its subject embraces semantic and functional traits of phonetic characteristics that are peculiar to the speech of representatives of different strata of population. The aim of the paper is to study the factors that influence the efficacy of social interaction between communicants. The carried out analysis of scientific literature allows to assume that pronunciation variation of the language is regarded by modern social linguists in two aspects: as a tendency of language development and as a means of identification and cognitive development of a speaker’s and hearer’s personality in society. Usage of certain social markers gives index information about the speaker. Social and situational pronunciation variation is based on comparison of accents with commonly accepted language norm. Received Pronunciation is considered such a norm for the British variant of the English language. Nevertheless, elements of low prestige accents such as cockney, for example, which is the most famous one among working class Londoners, are used as a means of social interaction optimization, especially among young people. This fact develops a more positive attitude of people to such accents. Moreover, under the influence of cockney the speech of modern Londoners undergoes the process of the so-called “cocknification”. Thus, the conducted research allows to state that in today’s Great Britain, pronunciation variation does not only indicate a certain population stratum which the speaker belongs to, but it also serves as a means for the speaker to adapt to a particular communicative situation.
