Мовне втілення концепту GENIUS / ГЕНІАЛЬНІСТЬ у науковій картині світу

Abstract

Статтю присвячено дослідженню мовного втілення концепту GENIUS/ ГЕНІАЛЬНІСТЬ у науковій картині світу англомовного соціуму. Актуальність роботи зумовлена загальною антропоцентричною науковою парадигмою сьогодення, пріоритетною спрямованістю сучасних лінгвокогнітивних досліджень на вивчення процесів концептуалізації дійсності та відсутністю комплексних досліджень феномену геніальності в аспекті лінгвальної репрезентації. Матеріалом дослідження слугували загальні тлумачні словники англійської мови, спеціалізовані словники й енциклопедії, англомовні художні, публіцистичні та наукові тексти, а також Британський національний корпус. Загальна вибірка за цими джерелами становить близько 100 словникових та енциклопедичних дефініцій та більше 1000 контекстів вживання ключової номінатеми досліджуваного концепту. Вибірка зі спеціалізованих словників, енциклопедій та наукових публікацій утворила фрагмент наукової картини світу. До ядра концепту GENIUS / ГЕНІАЛЬНІСТЬ в англомовній науковій картині світу уналежнюємо ознаки, які виокремлено в ході аналізу мовного матеріалу (спеціалізовані словники та енциклопедії): надзвичайність, розумові здібності, творчі здібності, досягнення, які було продемонстровано, доведено, досконалі знання у певній сфері, майстерність, самостійність, яка дає змогу не лише працювати наодинці, а й висловлювати новаторські думки, витривалість, натхнення, відмінність від інших, завзяття, працьовитість, оригінальність. До периферії уналежнюємо контекстуальні ознаки, зафіксовані у проаналізованих монографіях, статтях та інших наукових публікаціях (наполегливість, упевненість, сила характеру, гнучкість, сміливість, унікальність, образність мислення, стратегічність мислення, досяжність, системність, божественність VS немістичність, зникнення, маскулінність, протиставленість почуттям, елітарність, невизнання суспільством). Принагідно зазначимо, що у науковому мовленні доволі часто актуалізуються і ядрові концептуальні ознаки.

The article is devoted to the study of the linguistic embodiment of the concept GENIUS in the scientific worldview of the English-speaking society. The relevance of the work is determined by the general anthropocentric scientific paradigm of today, the priority focus of modern linguistic-cognitive research on the study of the processes of conceptualization of reality, and the lack of comprehensive studies of the phenomenon of genius in the aspect of linguistic representation. The research material was general explanatory dictionaries of the English language, specialized dictionaries and encyclopedias, English artistic, publicist and scientific texts, as well as the British National Corpus. The total sample according to these sources is about 100 dictionary and encyclopedic definitions and more than 1000 contexts of use of the key nominative unit of the studied concept. A selection from specialized dictionaries, encyclopedias and scientific publications formed a fragment of the scientific worldview. The core of the concept of GENIUS in the English-speaking scientific picture of the world includes the features that were identified during the analysis of language material (specialized dictionaries and encyclopedias): extraordinary, mental abilities, creative abilities, achievements that have been demonstrated, proven, perfect knowledge in a certain field, skill, independence, which allows not only to work alone, but also to express innovative thoughts, endurance, inspiration, difference from others, zeal, hard work, originality. The periphery includes the contextual features recorded in the analyzed monographs, articles and other scientific publications (perseverance, confidence, strength of character, flexibility, courage, uniqueness, imaginative thinking, strategic thinking, achievement, systematicity, divinity VS non-mysticism, disappearance, masculinity, opposition to feelings, elitism, non-recognition by society). We should note that in scientific communication, core conceptual features are also actualized quite often.
