Когнітивний підхід до вивчення англомовних метафоричних ІТ-термінів

Abstract

Статтю присвячено дослідженню особливостей англомовних метафоричних термінів ІТ галузі. Оскільки зараз здебільшого спостерігається тенденція утворення нових термінів за допомогою загальновживаної лексики, де метафоризація є одним з найпоширеніших засобів термінотворення. Розкрито поняття «метафоричний ІТ-термін», проаналізовано сучасний стан досліджень з вивчення метафор та їх ролі в інформаційних технологіях, досліджено найбільш розповсюджені теорії метафори, проведено аналіз англомовних метафоричних ІТ-термінів. Наведено приклади, які демонструють, як метафори можуть впливати на сприйняття технологій, формувати враження про їхню природу та можливі ризики. Такий аналіз може мати важливе значення при розробці і популяризації нових ІТ-продуктів. Крім того, цей підхід допомагає формувати позитивне враження про самі технології та підкреслює їхню значущість у сучасному світі. Встановлено, що серед найпоширеніших засобів перекладу метафоричних ІТ-термінів на українську мову є транслітерація для збереження оригінального звучання терміна, і таким чином зберігається його оригінальна метафора. Використання метафор в ІТ може відображати культурні, соціальні або історичні контексти, що підкреслює, як мова та технологія взаємодіють у суспільстві. Метафоричні терміни можуть створити позитивні асоціації з технологіями, які впливають на сприйняття і ставлення до них. Метафори, відомі з реального життя, стають ключем до зрозуміння інноваційних та іноді абстрактних концепцій в галузі інформаційних технологій. Це можна розглядати як розширення нашого когнітивного простору, що дозволяє легше сприймати складні і нові концепції та краще адаптуватися до швидкого технологічного розвитку. Такий підхід не тільки сприяє легкому розумінню термінів, а також дозволяє підтримувати зв'язок із світовим ІТ-співтовариством, що є важливо для створення сприятливого середовища для розвитку ІТ-галузі в Україні та підвищення рівня комп'ютерної грамотності серед українських користувачів.

The article is dedicated to exploring the peculiarities of English metaphoric terms within the field of IT. Because now there is a tendency to create new terms with the help of commonly used vocabulary, where metaphorization is one of the most common means of term creation. The concept of "metaphorical IT term" is revealed, the current state of research on the study of metaphors and their role in information technologies is analyzed, the most widespread theories of metaphor are investigated, and the analysis of English-language metaphorical IT terms is carried out. Examples are given that demonstrate how metaphors can influence the perception of technologies, form impressions about their nature and possible risks. Such an analysis can be important in the development and popularization of new IT products. In addition, this approach helps to form a positive impression about the technologies themselves and emphasizes their significance in the modern world. It has been identified that among the most common strategies for translating metaphoric IT terms into Ukrainian is transliteration, which preserves the original sound of the term and thus retains its original metaphor. The use of metaphors in IT can mirror cultural, social, or historical contexts, underscoring the interaction between language and technology in society. Metaphoric terms have the capacity to create positive associations with technologies, thereby impacting perception and attitudes towards them. Metaphors drawn from everyday life become keys to understanding innovative and sometimes abstract concepts in the realm of information technology. This can be seen as an expansion of our cognitive space, allowing us to more easily perceive complex and new concepts and better adapt to rapid technological development. Such an approach not only facilitates an easy understanding of terms, but also allows you to maintain contact with the global IT community, which is important for creating a favorable environment for the development of the IT industry in Ukraine and increasing the level of computer literacy among Ukrainian users.
