Експресіоністичність новели В. Стефаника «Камінний хрест» крізь призму синтаксичної організації тексту

Abstract

Стаття присвячена дослідженню особливостей організації синтаксичного рівня новели В. Стефаника «Камінний хрест», а саме особливостей функціювання сурядних словосполучень з їхньою проєкцією на розкриття ідейного спрямування твору. Особливу увагу звернено на виявлені в новелі домінантні риси експресіонізму, а саме: зацікавленість глибинними психічними процесами головного героя, відсутність детальних описів зовнішнього портрета персонажа, прагнення збагнути причини тяжкості людського життя, експлікацію найвищих виявів страждання, переважання сірих кольорів буденності, символізм. Окрім зовнішньої теми еміграції селян до Канади в пошуках кращої долі, новела має глибокий філософський підтекст, пов’язаний з ідеєю всезагального зв’язку всього сущого у світі. З’ясовано, що єдність із землею викликана по-справжньому динамічно-експресивною, але й дуже тяжкою працею. Вражаючими є символи новели: горб, хрест, танець. Горб уособлює тяжку працю й безталанність, танець – смерть, прощання із рідною землею, камінний хрест – символ терпіння і титанічної марної праці. Примітно, що образ хреста має алюзію на біблійний образ і втілює ідею про страдницьку долю селянина, який усе життя пропрацював на своїй землі і змушений іти в пошуках кращої долі, що також корелює із біблійною оповіддю про пошук іудейським народом «землі обітованої». Звертає на себе особливу увагу той факт, що танець, у який кинувся Іван Дідух, є полькою. Автор майстерно трансформував цей веселий за своєю природою різновид танцю для розкриття кульмінаційного психічного напруження головного героя. Доведено, що в реалізації означеної вище ідеї важливу роль відіграє синтаксичний рівень новели. Реченням притаманний динамізм, незавершеність думки, емоційність. Їхніми невід’ємними елементами є сурядні словосполучення, які, функціюючи в межах реченнєвої структури, зорієнтовані на виконання прагматичної мети. Установлено, що сурядні синтаксеми беруть участь у творенні художньої образності новели й розкритті ідейної спрямованості. Домінувальними типами є дво- та трикомпонентні сурядні словосполучення, у яких зреалізовано: 1) єднальні відношення без уживання сполучників та за допомогою сполучників і, ні…ні; 2) протиставні відношення зі сполучником але; 3) приєднувальні відношення зі сполучником та й.

The article is dedicated to the study of the peculiarities of the organization of the syntactic level, namely, the co-ordinate phrases, in the short story “The Stone Cross” by V. Stefanyk with their projection on the disclosure of the ideological direction of the work. The author highlights the dominant features of expressionism realized in the work, including: interest in the deep mental processes of the protagonist, lack of detailed descriptions of the external portrait of the hero, the desire to understand the causes of the severity of human life, the expression of suffering in its highest form, the dominance of gray colors of everyday life, symbolism. In addition to the direct theme of peasants’ emigration to Canada in search of a better life, the novel has a deep philosophical connotation associated with the idea of the universal interconnectedness of everything in the world. It is revealed that unity with the earth is caused by truly dynamic and expressive, but also very hard work. The symbols of the story are striking: a hill, a cross, and a dance. The hill represents hard work and fortuneless life; the dance represents death, farewell to the native land; the stone cross is a symbol of patience and titanic futile labor. It is noteworthy that the image of the cross has an allusion to the biblical image and embodies the idea of the suffering fate of a peasant who has worked on his land all his life and is forced to leave in search of a better life, which also correlates with the biblical story of the Jewish people’s search for “the promised land”. Particularly noteworthy is the fact that the dance Ivan Didukh threw himself into is the polka. The author has skillfully transformed this cheerful by its nature type of dance to reveal the culminating mental stress of the protagonist. The syntactic level of the novel plays an important role in revealing such an overarching idea. The sentences are characterized by dynamism, incompleteness of thought, and emotionality. Their important elements are the co-ordinate phrases, which function within the sentence structure and realize their pragmatic aspects. It has been established that the co-ordinate syntaxes participate in the creation of the artistic imagery of the short story and the disclosure of the ideological orientation. The dominant types are two- and three-component co-ordinate phrases, which realize: 1) connecting relations without conjunctions and with the help of conjunctions і, ні...ні; 2) oppositional relations with the conjunction але; 3) connecting relations with the conjunction та й.
