Особливості перекладу ветеринарної лексики з англійської мови на українську

Abstract

Стаття присвячена дослідженню особливостей перекладу ветеринарної лексики з англійської мови на українську. Актуальність статті зумовлена тим, що термінологічні словники посідають дедалі важливіше місце у ветеринарній професійній освіті та культурі, відображаючи розширення термінології у зв’язку з розвитком ветеринарної науки та соціальними змінами. Вони спричиняють появу нових термінів та/або перебудову вже сформованого понятійного апарату описуваної галузі знань шляхом уточнення та переінтерпретації раніше зафіксованих термінологічних одиниць. Автори зазначають, що завдання лінгвістів полягає у тому, щоб керувати виникненням великої кількості, іноді неорганізованих, термінологічних одиниць. У цьому контексті видається методологічно важливим та необхідним активізувати термінологічну діяльність експертів. Цій діяльності насамперед сприяє створення вузькоспеціалізованих термінологічних словників, які, з одного боку, відображають особливості розвитку наукових знань в окремих галузях ветеринарії, а з іншого – не перевантажують загальну лексику спеціалізованими лексичними описами і загальними словниками. На думку авторів статті, спеціалізовані термінологічні словники є не тільки засобом фіксації та зберігання знань, а і надійним інструментом для розуміння того, які знання стоять за термінологічною одиницею, тобто її лінгвістизації. Мета дослідження полягає у виявленні особливостей перекладу ветеринарної лексики з англійської мови на українську, адже ветеринарна термінологія є однією з найпрогресивніших у мові, що зумовлено насамперед бурхливим розвитком ветеринарної науки та міжнародною науковою інтеграцією в цій галузі знань. Перелічені чинники підкреслюють актуальність термінологічної проблеми та необхідність її вивчення, адже спеціальна лексика галузі ветеринарії відіграє важливу роль у професійній комунікації між фахівцями та в їхній роботі з тваринами. У статті розглянуто основні проблеми вивчення термінів ветеринарної медицини як об’єкта міждисциплінарного дослідження. Окреслено проблеми дослідження семантики англійської ветеринарної термінології та шляхи їх вирішення, приділено увагу структурі ветеринарної лексики, її ролі у професійній сфері та важливість для забезпечення здоров’я тварин. Окрім того, окреслено специфіку перекладу, важливі терміни та концепти, а також вплив сучасних тенденцій на процес перекладу ветеринарної лексики.

The article is devoted to the study of the peculiarities of translating veterinary vocabulary from English into Ukrainian. The relevance of the article is due to the fact that terminological dictionaries are becoming increasingly important in veterinary professional education and culture, reflecting the expansion of terminology due to the development of veterinary science and social changes. They lead to the emergence of new terms and/or restructuring of the already formed conceptual apparatus of the described field of knowledge by clarifying and reinterpreting previously recorded terminological units. The authors point out that the task of linguists is to manage the emergence of a large number of, sometimes disorganized, terminological units. In this context, it seems methodologically important and necessary to intensify the terminological activity of experts. This activity is primarily facilitated by the creation of highly specialized terminological dictionaries, which, on the one hand, reflect the peculiarities of the development of scientific knowledge in certain branches of veterinary medicine, and on the other hand, do not overload the general vocabulary with specialized lexical descriptions and general dictionaries. According to the authors of the article, specialized terminological dictionaries are not only a means of capturing and storing knowledge, but also a reliable tool for understanding what knowledge is behind a terminological unit, i. e., its linguization. The purpose of the study is to identify the peculiarities of translating veterinary vocabulary from English into Ukrainian, since veterinary terminology is one of the most advanced in the language, which is primarily due to the rapid development of veterinary science and international scientific integration in this field of knowledge. These factors emphasize the relevance of the terminological problem and the need to study it, since the special vocabulary of the veterinary field plays an important role in professional communication between specialists and in their work with animals. The article deals with the main problems of studying the terms of veterinary medicine as an object of interdisciplinary research. The problems of researching the semantics of English veterinary terminology and ways to solve them are outlined, attention is paid to the structure of veterinary vocabulary, its role in the professional field and its importance for animal health. In addition, the specifics of translation, important terms and concepts, as well as the impact of current trends on the process of translating veterinary vocabulary are outlined.
