Мовна синестезія у новелі «Кавалер Глюк» Е. Т. А. Гофмана

Abstract

У дослідженні розглядається феномен синестезії, зокрема мовної і літературної, у новелі «Кавалер Глюк» видатного німецького романтика Е. Т. А. Гофмана (Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann, 1766–1822). Враховано не лише текстові аспекти новели, але й контекст життя письменника, особливості його світосприйняття і його вплив на творчий процес. Синестет Е. Т. А. Гофман зробив свої твори унікальними, об’єднавши живопис, музику та літературу. Специфічність його світосприйняття відображена в новелі через синестезію – поєднання різних модальностей сприйняття, накладанням однієї на іншу, щоб у такий спосіб на межі їхньої взаємодії прокласти шлях до абсолюту – ідеальної мети художнього зображення романтика. Аналіз новели «Кавалер Глюк» Е. Т. А. Гофмана провадиться, скеровуючись на багатошарові мовні сполуки, які письменник використовує для досягнення синестетичного ефекту. Тож у центрі уваги перебуває своєрідність поєднання відчуттів звуку, фарб, світла, запахів у мовних образах, створюючи у читачів унікальні сенсорні враження. З’ясовується, що синестезія має неабиякий вплив на сприйняття й інтерпретацію твору, а також сприяє створенню художніх образів і розширює можливості мови у вираженні естетичних та емоційних ідей. Висновки статті підкреслюють, що для Гофмана синестезія стає не лише художнім засобом, але і шляхом для досягнення абсолютних образів. Синестетичні ефекти, особливо через мову, стають унікальними засобами вираження неосяжного і сприяють розширенню можливостей мови у вираженні естетичних ідей та емоційного сприйняття. Дослідження закладає ґрунт для подальшого вивчення синестетичних образів в літературному доробку Гофмана для поглибленого осягнення своєрідності його художньої творчості.

The study explores the phenomenon of synesthesia, particularly linguistic and literary synesthesia, in the novella "Cavalier Gluck" by the eminent German Romantic writer E.T.A. Hoffmann (Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann, 1766–1822). The analysis delves into not only the textual aspects of the novella but also the context of the author's life, the peculiarities of his worldview, and their influence on the creative process. Hoffmann, a synesthete, rendered his works unique by intertwining painting, music, and literature. The specificity of his perception is mirrored in the novella through synesthesia – a fusion of different modalities of perception, layering one upon the other, thus paving the way to the absolute at the intersection of their interaction – the ideal goal of the romantic artistic representation. The analysis of the novella "Cavalier Gluck" by E.T.A. Hoffmann is conducted by focusing on multilayered linguistic compounds that the author employs to achieve a synesthetic effect. At the forefront is the amalgamation of auditory, visual, and olfactory sensations in linguistic expressions, creating unique sensory impressions in readers. It is revealed that synesthesia not only influences the perception and interpretation of the work but also contributes to the creation of artistic images, expanding the language's capabilities in expressing aesthetic and emotional ideas. The conclusions of the article underscore that for Hoffmann, synesthesia becomes not only an artistic device but also a means to achieve absolute images. Synesthetic effects, particularly through language, become unique tools for expressing the immeasurable and contribute to expanding the possibilities of language in expressing aesthetic ideas and emotional perception. The study lays the groundwork for the further study of synesthetic images in Hoffmann's literary output for a deeper understanding of the originality of his artistic creativity.
