Abstract

У статті констатовано, що електронне листування є не лише засобом комунікації, але й складною формою вираження думок, що вимагає детального вивчення. Одним із феноменів цього способу комунікації є широке використання скорочень, які не лише спрощують текст, але й є своєрідними символами нової мови, що проникає у віртуальний простір спілкування. Розуміння причин, що призводять до використання цих скорочень, а також дослідження їхньої ролі у сприйнятті повідомлень стає необхідним предметом їх поглибленого студіювання. Дане дослідження може розкрити не лише функціональність скорочень у віртуальному спілкуванні, але й їхній вплив на ефективність та якість передачі інформації в цифровому середовищі. Скорочення, такі як “FYI” (For Your Information) або “ASAP” (As Soon As Possible), “LOL” (Laugh Out Loud (голосно сміятись), “IMO” (In My Opinion (на мою думку)) або “IMHO” (In My Humble Opinion) є не лише зручними у використанні, але й стали символами онлайн спілкування. До основних причин використання скорочень у Інтернет-комункації належать швидкість та зручність сприйняття (скорочення дозволяють передати інформацію швидше та компактніше, зекономити час і простір тексту). Теоретичною основою слугують дослідження графічних скорочень, що реалізуються через абревіатури, анаграми, шифри (з використанням тексту чи графічних елементів), методи стенографії, криптографії, шифру Атбаша, вживання числових або символьних кодів, використання емотиконів (смайликів) та стилістичних скорочень, які є ближчими до зразків усного, а не письмового спілкування (вживання вигуків, часток, редукованих та асимільованих форм). Мета дослідження: виокремити та проаналізувати причини використання скорочень у електронному листуванні для розуміння їхньої ролі у спілкуванні та виявлення впливу на сприйняття повідомлення. Основним завданням постає наліз скорочень та їх причин використання у електронному листуванні.

The article states that electronic correspondence is not just a means of communication but a sophisticated form of expressing thoughts that requires in-depth study. One of the phenomena in this mode of communication is the extensive use of abbreviations, which not only simplify the text but also serve as symbols of a new language permeating the virtual space of communication. Understanding the reasons behind the use of these abbreviations and studying their role in message perception becomes a necessary subject for deeper examination. This research can uncover not only the functionality of abbreviations in virtual communication but also their impact on the efficiency and quality of information transmission in the digital environment. Abbreviations such as “FYI” (For Your Information), “ASAP” (As Soon As Possible), “LOL” (Laugh Out Loud), “IMO” (In My Opinion), or “IMHO” (In My Humble Opinion) are not just convenient in usage but have also become symbols of online communication. The primary reasons for using abbreviations in Internet communication include speed and convenience of perception, enabling quicker and more compact information transfer, thus saving time and textual space. The theoretical foundation comprises studies of graphical abbreviations realized through abbreviations, anagrams, ciphers (using text or graphical elements), stenography methods, cryptography, Atbash cipher, utilization of numerical or symbolic codes, emoticons (smileys), and stylistic abbreviations closer to oral rather than written communication patterns (usage of exclamations, particles, reduced, or assimilated forms). Research Objective: To identify and analyze the reasons for using abbreviations in electronic correspondence to comprehend their role in communication and to determine their impact on message reception. The primary task involves an analysis of abbreviations and their reasons for usage in electronic correspondence.
