Машинний переклад художніх текстів: теоретичний аспект

Abstract

Активне зростання інтересу до машинного перекладу художніх текстів, спричинене появою нових технічних інструментів та штучного інтелекту. Ці інструменти автоматизують процес перекладу і спрощують розуміння мови як коду, який можна просто декодувати й закодувати відповідно до правил. Мета представленої роботи полягає у розгляді теоретичних аспектів машинного перекладу художніх текстів. Новизна роботи полягає в тому, що цей спрощений підхід не враховує творчості перекладача і недосконалості сучасних систем машинного перекладу, які все ще покладаються на статистичну обробку текстів. В контексті представленої роботи проаналізовано теорії та техніки машинного перекладу та розглянуто переваги і проблеми, які виникають в наслідок використання технології машинного перекладу. Робота також була зосереджена на можливостях штучного інтелекту для перекладу тестів текстів. Розкрито питання впливу машинного перекладу художніх тестів на видавничу і перекладацьку індустрії. Результати роботи показали, що технологічні зміни викликають нові питання щодо концепції перекладу і змінюють спосіб сприйняття перекладознавства в цілому. Опрацьована наукова думка ставить під сумнів здатність машини вловити унікальність стилю автора і знайти стратегію для передачі цієї складної трансформації. Серед переваг машинного перекладу художніх текстів виділено зменшення витрат часу і зусиль для перекладу текстів. Серед недоліків існує ризик зловживання машинним перекладом, що може поставити під загрозу видимість та роль професійних перекладачів. Підсумовуючи наукові роботи, що вже були проведені в цьому напрямку, висновуємо, що дослідження ролі та впливу нових технологічних інструментів в перекладі, роль комп’ютерної лінгвістики, когнітивних наук, неврології та їх перспективи трансформує парадигму традиційного перекладознавства. Співвідношення машинного перекладу з художньою літературою, роль машинного перекладу в оновленні літературної творчості та співпраця між людиною та машиною в художньому перекладі може бути цікавою перспективою для перекладознавства.

The growing interest in machine translation of literary texts has been fueled by the emergence of new technical tools and artificial intelligence. These tools automate the translation process and simplify language understanding as a code that can be easily decoded and encoded according to rules. The objective of this paper is to examine the theoretical aspects of machine translation of literary texts. The novelty of the work lies in the fact that this simplified approach does not consider the creativity of the translator and the imperfections of current machine translation systems, which still rely on statistical processing of texts. In the context of this paper, theories and techniques of machine translation are analyzed, and the advantages and problems arising from the use of machine translation technology are discussed. The work also focuses on the possibilities of artificial intelligence for translating literary texts. The impact of machine translation of literary texts on the publishing and translation industries is also explored. The results of the work show that technological changes raise new questions about the concept of translation and change the way translation studies are perceived as a whole. The processed scientific thought questions the ability of a machine to capture the uniqueness of an author’s style and find a strategy for conveying this complex transformation. Among the advantages of machine translation of literary texts is the reduction in time and effort required to translate texts. Among the disadvantages, there is a risk of machine translation being misused, which could jeopardise the visibility and role of professional translators. Summarising the scientific work already conducted in this direction, it is concluded that research into the role and impact of new technological tools in translation, the role of computational linguistics, cognitive sciences, neurology, and their perspectives transform the paradigm of traditional translation studies. The relation between machine translation and fiction, the role of machine translation in the renewal of literary creativity, and the cooperation between humans and machines in literary translation can be an interesting perspective for translation studies.
