Номінації густини лісу в памʼятках XVI–XVІІI ст. та їх проєкція в бойківських говірках

Abstract

У статті проаналізовано назви лісу за густиною дерев, представлених лексемами густъ, густвина, густина // густиня, густинь; гуща // гущѧ, гущавина // гущѧвина, гущакъ, гущъ; дебръ // дебрь, дебриє, дебрѣ; хаща // гаща, хащникъ, хащъ, які об’єднані спільним компонентом значення густий, непрохідний, дуже зарослий’. Визначено структурно-семантичні особливості досліджуваного ряду номінацій, а також продемонстровано важливість діалектного матеріалу для розуміння еволюції і формування досліджуваної тематичної групи лексики. Ілюстративний матеріал для дослідження взято з пам’яток офіційно-ділового стилю української мови XVI– XVIII ст. (рукописного та опублікованого) на основі картотек «Словника української мови XVI – першої половини XVII століття», «Історичного словника українського язика» Євгена Тимченка, а також «Документів Броцлавського воєводства 1566–1606 рр», «Доби гетьмана Івана Мазепи в документах», «Універсалах Івана Мазепи», «Книги Київського підкоморного суду», адже саме ділові документи досліджуваного періоду містять цінну інформацію про географічні риси конкретної території, життя та діяльність людей, їх господарство та лексику, яка її репрезентує. Характерною ознакою майже всіх слів на позначення лісів за густиною є те, що, попри тривалу історію функціювання їх в українському лексиконі та попри давнє походження, мовознавцям так і не вдалося встановити їх точного значення (дебръ // дебрь – дебрѣ). Деякі назви вийшли з ужитку сучасної української мови (дебриє, дебръ // дебрь, чаща), на периферії сучасного словника української мови у частини ‒ змінилося значення (густина), а інші – зберегли своє значення й активно функціюють у мові та в діалектах (гуща, гущавина, пуща).

The article analyses the names of the forest according to its density, represented by the following lexemes: hustʹ, hustvyna, hustyna// hustynia, hustynʹ; hushcha, hushchavyna // hushchѧvyna, hushchakʹ, hushchʹ; debrʹ // debrʹ, debriye, debrʹ; khashcha // hashcha, khashchnykʹ, khashchʹ [thicket, dense forest]; which are consolidated by the common component that means thick, impassable, extremely overgrown. The work has determined structural and semantic features of the studied range of nominations as well as it has exposed the weight of dialect material for understanding the evolution and formation of the studied thematic group of vocabulary. The illustrative material for the study has been taken from the reference books of the official Ukrainian business language style of the 16th–18th centuries (handwritten and published) based on the card register of “Dictionary of Ukrainian language the16th – first half of the 17th century”, “Historical Dictionary of the Ukrainian Language” by Yevhen Tymchenko, as well as from “Documents of the Broclaw Voivodeship 1566–1606”, “The Days of Hetman Ivan Mazepa in Documents”, “Universals of Ivan Mazepa”, “Books of the Kyiv sub-chamber court”, hence these particular business documents of the period studied contain the valuable information about the geographical features of a specific territory, the life and activities of people, their economy and the vocabulary that represents it. As a characteristic feature of almost all words used to describe forests by their density serves the following, that despite the long history of their use in the Ukrainian lexicon as well as their ancient origin, their exact meaning (debrʹ – debrtʹ) [recesses] has not been found by the linguists. Some of names have fallen into disuse in the modern Ukrainian language (debrye, debrʹ, chascha), some part of them has changed their meaning (hustyna [thickness]) on the periphery of the modern dictionary of the Ukrainian language, meanwhile others have retained their meaning, and they are actively functioning in the language and dialects (huschcha, huschchavyna, puschcha [thickness, thicket, forest]).
