Комплімент як одна з форм комунікації у вікторіанському дискурсі

Abstract

У статті на матеріалі художніх творів Чарльза Діккенса було розглянуто комплімент як одну з форм комунікації у вікторіанському дискурсі, описані комунікативні компоненти в ситуаціях спілкування пересічних вікторіанців, проаналізовані час і місце спілкування, зовнішнє оточення, середовище з його фізичними параметрами, культурна значущість спілкування, його місце у комунікативному процесі. Було виявлено, що мовленнєві принципи комунікативної культури вікторіанців сформувалися відповідно тим моральним принципам, яким вони слідували. Було розкрито, що норми мовленнєвої комунікації слугували для гармонізації спілкування, уникнення негативних суджень, досягнення своєї мети. Було визначено, що компліментом вважають специфічне висловлення, яке використовується з метою надання позитивного судження і виявлення прихильного ставлення до співрозмовника. Він впливає на стосунки між мовцями, і як результат на спілкування. Було досліджено, що комплімент у вікторіанські часи містив у собі позитивну оцінку комунікативного партнера. Тож його метою було повідомлення приємної інформації щодо особистості адресата. Було доведено, що комунікативні компоненти ситуації спілкування знаходь свій вияв щонайменше у таких параметрах, як час і місце спілкування, зовнішнє оточення, середовище з його фізичними параметрами, культурна значущість спілкування, його місце у комунікативному процесі. У вікторіанській мовній культурі важливим прошарком мовленнєвих актів відігравав саме комплімент. Це явище було важливим складником мовленнєвого спілкування вікторіанців, яке впливало на характер міжособистісних стосунків комунікантів, ступінь їх взаєморозуміння, й, відповідно, на успішність комунікації в цілому. В результаті склалося, що комплімент – важливий компонент мовленнєвої поведінки представників англомовної культури. Також в межах основних комунікативних принципів вікторіанського дискурсу (ввічливість, некатегоричність, стриманість, паритетність) особливе місце належить компліменту, що був важливим компонентом спілкування для вікторіанського суспільства.

In the article, based on the material of prose works of the Victorian period, the compliment was considered as one of the forms of communication in the Victorian discourse, the communicative components in the communication situations of ordinary Victorians were described, the time and place of communication, the external environment, the environment with its physical parameters, the cultural significance of communication, its place were analyzed. in the communicative process.It was found that the speech principles of the communicative culture of the Victorians were formed in accordance with the moral principles they followed. It was revealed that the norms of speech communication served to harmonize communication, avoid negative judgments, and achieve one’s goal. It was determined that a compliment is considered a specific statement that is used for the purpose of providing a positive judgment and revealing a favorable attitude towards the interlocutor. It affects the relationship between speakers, and as a result, communication. It was investigated that a compliment in Victorian times contained a positive assessment of the communicative partner. So its purpose was to communicate pleasant information about the addressee’s personality. It was proven that the communicative components of the communication situation are manifested at least in such parameters as the time and place of communication, the external environment, the environment with its physical parameters, the cultural significance of communication, its place in the communicative process. In the Victorian language culture, the compliment played an important layer of speech acts. This phenomenon was an important component of the speech communication of the Victorians, which influenced the nature of the interpersonal relationships of the communicators, the degree of their mutual understanding, and, accordingly, the success of communication as a whole. As a result, it turned out that a compliment is an important component of speech behavior of representatives of English-speaking culture. Within the basic communicative principles of Victorian discourse (politeness, non-categorization, restraint, parity), a special place belongs to the compliment, which was an important component of communication for Victorian society.
