Мова як інструмент маніпуляції: стилістичний аналіз використання лексики у політичному й діловому дискурсі

Abstract

Актуальність статті обумовлена тим, що є значущою в контексті сучасного інформаційного суспільства. Політичні діячі активно застосовують специфічну лексику, риторику, мовні засоби задля впливу на людську свідомість, з метою формування необхідних їм переконань і досягнення бажаних політичних цілей. Мета дослідження полягає у тому, щоб здійснити структурований стилістичний аналіз використання лексики, який дозволяє розкрити різноманітні способи мовної маніпуляції в політичному і діловому дискурсі. Розпізнавання маніпулятивних тактик, стратегій, технік у політичному й діловому дискурсі надає можливість здійснювати критичний аналіз інформації, що натомість сприятиме точній поінформованості громадян, без значного впливу на формування їхньої думки, позиції, ставлення до фактів. До вибірки було відібрано найбільш популярні промови президента США Джо Байдена за період із 2021 до 2024 року. Із позиції аналізу промов крізь призму політичного дискурсу, розглянуто особливості використання емоційно-забарвленої лексики, застосування евфемізмів і формування стереотипного бачення. Принципи маніпуляції задля впливу на емоції і поведінку людей у проаналізованих промовах крізь призму ділового дискурсу, здебільшого відображені через використання слів із позитивною конотацією, задля створення привабливого образу, застосування риторичних виразів задля посилення аргументації і вживання модальних дієслів задля нав’язування думок та переконань щодо конкретного питання. Використано такі загальнонаукові методи: теоретичний аналіз, який полягав в аналізі праць науковців, які вивчали мову як інструмент маніпуляції; корпусне дослідження – формування корпусу текстів політичного й ділового дискурсу, в основу якого, увійшли промови президента США Джо Байдена за період із 2021 до 2024 року, відбір й аналіз прикладів із застосуванням маніпулятивних тактик; стилістичний аналіз, який полягає у дослідженні стилістичних прийомів, що використовуються для створення маніпулятивної лексики; дискурс-аналіз, який передбачає огляд конкретних прикладів застосування маніпулятивної лексики у відібраному корпусі тексту. Зроблено висновок про використання політиками у промовах певних маніпулятивних комунікативних тактик, які реалізуються за допомогою відповідних комунікативних ходів.

The relevance of the article is due to the fact that it is significant in the context of the modern information society. Political figures actively use specific vocabulary, rhetoric, and language tools to influence human consciousness, in order to form the beliefs they need and achieve their desired political goals. The purpose of the study is to conduct a structured stylistic analysis of the use of vocabulary, which allows us to reveal various ways of language manipulation in political and business discourse. Recognition of manipulative tactics, strategies, and techniques in political and business discourse makes it possible to critically analyze information, which in turn will contribute to accurate information of citizens without significantly affecting the formation of their opinions, positions, and attitudes towards facts. The most popular speeches of US President Joe Biden for the period from 2021 to 2024 were selected for the sample. From the standpoint of analyzing speeches through the prism of political discourse, the features of the use of emotionally colored vocabulary, the use of euphemisms, and the formation of a stereotypical vision are considered. The principles of manipulation to influence people’s emotions and behavior in the analyzed speeches through the prism of business discourse are mainly reflected through the use of words with positive connotations to create an attractive image, the use of rhetorical expressions to strengthen arguments, and the use of modal verbs to impose opinions and beliefs on a particular issue. The following general scientific methods were used: theoretical analysis, which consisted of analyzing the works of scholars who have studied language as a tool of manipulation; corpus research – the formation of a corpus of texts of political and business discourse, based on the speeches of US President Joe Biden for the period from 2021 to 2024, selection and analysis of examples using manipulative tactics; stylistic analysis, which consists of studying the stylistic techniques used to create manipulative vocabulary; discourse analysis, which involves reviewing specific examples of the use of manipulative vocabulary in a selected corpus of text. It is concluded that politicians use certain manipulative communication tactics in their speeches, which are realized through appropriate communication moves.
