Граматичні особливості академічного стилю англійської мови: перекладацький аспект

Abstract

У статті досліджується граматичний аспект академічного стилю сучасної англійської мови із акцентом на тонкощах вживання дієслів та їх часових форм. Автор детально описує специфіку використання герундія, герундіальних конструкцій, конструкції Complex Subject, інфінітиву та пасивного стану, пояснюючи доцільність їх застосування в науковому тексті. Автор розкриває специфіку вживання інфінітиву в різних конструкціях, таких як інфінітив з дієсловом, інфінітив з прийменником, інфінітив як підмет або додаток у реченні. Описано правила вживання пасивного стану в академічному стилі із акцентом на його доцільність для виділення дії, а не її виконавця. Наведено приклади використання пасивного стану в різних часових формах. Автор детально описує правила вживання часових форм дієслова, зокрема Present Simple, Past Simple та Present Perfect в різних частинах або розділах наукової праці. Наведено численні приклади використання всіх згаданих часових форм в академічному стилі. Зокрема, наголошено, що простий теперішній час переважно використовується в академічному стилі для опису наукової праці або дослідження, подачі мети, завдань та для опису загальновідомих фактів. Виявлено, що простий минулий час використовується в академічному стилі для опису раніше проведеного експерименту або дослідження, а також для посилання на результати досліджень або наукові праці інших авторів. Встановлено, що Present Perfect використовується в академічному стилі для введення нової теми або ідеї, підкреслення прогалини між попередніми дослідженнями та сучасним станом вивчення теми, а також для посилання на інші праці або дослідження. Наголошено, що ключовою різницею у використанні Past Simple та Present Perfect для посилання на інших авторів є те що, простий минулий час використовується у реченнях, де вказано ім’я автора, а Present Perfect використовується для посилання на попередні дослідження без вказівки імені авторів. The article examines grammatical aspects of the academic style of modern English with an emphasis on the subtleties of the use of the verb and its tense forms. The author describes in detail specific features of the use of gerund, gerundial constructions, the Complex Subject construction, infinitive and passive voice, substantiating their use in a scientific text. The author reveals specific features of the use of the infinitive in various constructions, such as infinitive with a verb, infinitive with a preposition, infinitive as a subject or an object in a sentence. The rules for using the passive voice in an academic style have been described with an emphasis on its expediency for highlighting an action rather than its executor. Examples of the use of passive voice in various tense forms have been given. The author describes in detail the rules for using the tense forms of the verb, in particular the Present Simple, Past Simple and Present Perfect in different parts or chapters of a scientific paper. Numerous examples of the use of all the mentioned tenses in academic style have been given. In particular, it has been emphasized that the simple present tense is mainly used in an academic style to describe scientific work or research, to present the aim, objectives of the research, and to describe commonly known facts. It has been found that the past simple tense is used in an academic style to describe a previously conducted experiment or study, as well as to refer to research results or scientific works by other authors. The Present Perfect has been found to be used in academic style to introduce a new topic or idea, to highlight a gap between previous research and the current state of research on a topic, and to refer to other works or research. It has been emphasized that the key difference between using the Past Simple and the Present Perfect to refer to other authors is that the Past Simple is used in sentences where the name of the author is given, while the Present Perfect is used to refer to previous research without naming the authors. The article serves as a valuable source of information for authors of scientific texts who seek to improve their command of the grammar of the academic style of the modern English language.
