Роль досвіду в розумінні особового імені

Abstract

У науковій розвідці схарактеризовано роль досвіду в розумінні особового імені. Спираючись на деякі теоретичні положення щодо сутності та обов’язкових компонентів розуміння, було констатовано, що йдеться про складний процес, успішність настання якого залежить від наявного попереднього досвіду в мовця. Особливого значення у зв’язку з розумінням набувають асоціативні зв’язки. З ілюстративною метою були використані матеріали форуму з питань ім’янаречення, де дописувачки мали змогу поділилися власними міркуваннями, спостереженнями та досвідом щодо вибору та особливостей подальшого вживання чоловічих та жіночих особових імен. Аналізована в роботі ситуація щодо вживання двох різних форм жіночого імені (Софійка і Соня) виразно демонструє, що специфічні смисли, наприклад, закладена в іменах інформація про здатність виступати національними ідентифікаторами, можуть лишитися незрозумілими мовцеві в силу незначних наявних знань та браку індивідуального досвіду. Однак рівень розуміння може бути поглиблюватися в міру розширення знань мовця про світ та вдосконалення рівня володіння мовою. Водночас у сфері іменування спостерігається особлива роль батьків, які не лише мають згідно із чинним законодавством пріоритетне право на вибір імені для новонародженого, демонструючи в такий спосіб свої мовні смаки та уподобання, а й спираючись на власні інтерпретації минулого та уявлення про майбутнє, конструюють досвід дитини, у такий спосіб впливаючи на її розуміння свого імені. Наведені приклади дають змогу припустити, що саме батьки доволі часто виступають ініціаторами щодо обмеженого вживання деяких форм особового імен, відкидаючи якусь їх частину й надаючи перевагу одному або кільком варіантам з усіх можливих, які, на їхню думку, є найбільш прийнятними. У такій ситуації будь-які спроби інших мовців видозмінити цей онім викликають бурхливу реакцію та наштовхуються на потужний опір. При цьому вони можуть керуватися недостатньо очевидними для сторонніх мотивами, що можуть становити своєрідну «передісторію» у вигляді сподівань, смаків, уявлень, інтерпретацій батьків.

The article describes the role of experience in understanding a personal name. Based on some theoretical provisions on the essence and essential components of understanding, it is stated that it is a complex process, the success of which depends on the speaker’s previous experience. Associative connections are of particular importance in connection with comprehension. For illustrative purposes, the materials of the forum on naming issues were used, where the contributors had the opportunity to share their own thoughts, observations and experiences regarding the choice and peculiarities of further use of male and female personal names. The situation with the use of two different forms of female name (Sofiika and Sonia) analysed in this paper clearly demonstrates that specific meanings, such as information about the ability to act as national identifiers, may remain incomprehensible to the speaker due to the little knowledge available and the lack of individual experience. However, the level of understanding can be deepened as the speaker’s knowledge of the world expands and the level of language proficiency improves. At the same time, in the area of naming, there is a special role for parents, who not only have a priority right under current legislation to choose a name for their newborn, thus demonstrating their linguistic tastes and preferences, but also, based on their own interpretations of the past and ideas about the future, construct the child’s experience, thus influencing the child’s understanding of his or her name. These examples suggest that it is often parents who initiate the limited use of certain forms of personal names, rejecting some of them and preferring one or more of the possible variants that they consider most acceptable. In such a situation, any attempts by other speakers to modify this name evoke a violent reaction and encounter strong resistance. At the same time, they may be guided by motives that are not obvious enough for outsiders, which may constitute a kind of «background» in the form of hopes, tastes, ideas, and interpretations of parents.
