Abstract

Vеrу often jokes (Ukrainian, Russian. Hungarian, Polish, Jewish ... ) deaf with the problems of inteгethnic relations. ln such jokes names and surnames have not only nominative function.but also the function of ethnical identification, being an important еlement of poetic folk-lore (in the case of ethnical scltirony and expression of superiority of onе nation over other). Іn jokes we соmе across only with the surnarпes and names characteristic of this or that nation; they are taken bу narrators аnd listens as the sуmbоl of ethnical delimitation.
