Типологія фемінних образів у серії романів «Енн» Л. М. Монтгомері

Abstract

У статті виявлено і проаналізовано типологію жіночих образів, особливості поетики їхнього характеротворення в серії романів «Енн із Зелених Дахів» (“Anne of Green Gables”, 1908–1942) канадської письменниці Л. М. Монтгомері. Виявлено традиції і новаторство романістики авторки, значення створених нею образів для розвитку канадської англомовної прози. З’ясовано, що у романах Л. М. Монтгомері втілено типові проблеми канадського жіноцтва кінця ХІХ – початку ХХ ст. (дорослішання; соціалізація, входження у світ; стосунки із батьками, однолітками, подругами, чоловіками; пошук свого місця в суспільстві; формування моральних цінностей; побудова гармонійних сімейних стосунків). У першому романі «Енн із Зелених Дахів» важливу роль в авторській концепції відіграють образи дітей (дівчаток) – Енн Ширлі, Діана Баррі, Рубі Джилліс, Джейн Ендрюс та ін. Зауважмо, що ці персонажі є повторюваними, тобто вони представлені також у романах серії «Енн». Суперечність між «дорослим» (прагматичним, логічним, раціональним) і «дитячим» (фантазійним, вільним, ірраціональним) світосприйняттям є значущою опозицією роману. Особливістю концепції героїні Л. М. Монтгомері є звернення до композиційного прийому контрасту (молода – стара; заміжня – незаміжня; учителька – домогосподарка; щаслива – нещаслива; «Нова жінка» – «Стара жінка» та ін.). У серії романів «Енн» представлені варіативні моделі «жіночих доль». Авторка концентрує увагу на зображенні суто жіночого світу. На прикладах життєвих історій різних персонажів розкрито складні взаємодії у «жіночому світі, ставлення жінок до життя, роботи, сім’ї, їхні моральні цінності й причини їхніх вчинків. Тож у творах Л. М. Монтгомері знайшли відображення спосіб життя й проблеми жінок у канадському суспільстві кінця ХІХ – початку ХХ ст., а також пошуки жінками свого місця в змінному світі, їхнє прагнення до активної діяльності, творчості й незалежності.

The article identifies and analyzes the typology of female images, the peculiarities of the poetics of their characterization in the series of novels “Anne of Green Gables” (1908-1942) by the Canadian writer L. M. Montgomery. The author’s traditions and innovations, the significance of the images she created for the development of Canadian English-language prose were revealed. It is discovered that the novels by L. M. Montgomery show the typical problems of Canadian womanhood of the late 19th – early 20th centuries (growing up; socialization, entry into the world; relationships with parents, peers, girlfriends, men; finding your place in society; formation of moral values; building harmonious family relationships). In the first novel, “Anne of Green Gables”, an important role in the author’s concept is played by the images of children (girls) – Anne Shirley, Diana Barry, Ruby Gillis, Jane Andrews and others. It is noted that these characters are repetitive, that is, they are also represented in the novels of the series “Anne”. The contradiction between the “adult” (pragmatic, logical, rational) and the “childish” (fantasy, free, irrational) worldview is a significant opposition to the novel. A feature of the concept of the heroine L. M. Montgomery is an appeal to the compositional reception of contrast (young – old; married – unmarried; teacher – housewife; happy – unhappy; New Woman, etc.) The Ann series of novels presents variable models of “female destinies”. The author focuses on depicting a purely female world. Examples of life stories of different characters reveal the interaction of women with other girls and women, their attitude to life, work, family, their moral values and the reasons for their actions. Therefore, the works of L. M. Montgomery reflect the way of life and the problems of women in the Canadian society of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, as well as women’s search for their place in a changing world, their desire for activism, creativity and independence.
