Abstract

The article deals with selected books bу W. Bredel, F.Wolf, F.C.Weiskopf, A.Zweig, A.Seghers, and other German prose writers who had their own view on some aspects of the Civil War, and pre-war Soviet society. А number of episodes and scenes important for understanding of the books' message have been analysed, taking into accound а new look at the histoгy of "the І st socialist state in the world", and refuting old concepts and dogma stereotypes upon literature. The ideological bias prevented the "faithful friends of the USSR" from penetrating beyod the official evaluation of events. The harsh influence of the Soviet ideological machine, the moral and ideological prejudices led the authors to "varnishing" realies in the Soviet reality, to the so-called "socialist epos", admiring the Soviet way of life, і.е. to aesthetic losses.
