Народний гумор у сатиричній поезії Володимира Самійленка: лінгвокультурний аспект.

Abstract

The article analyzes creative interpretation of the folk humor in the satirical poems by Volodymyr Samiilenko. The lack of studies dedicated to this aspect in works of writers who had a significant impact on the development of Ukrainian satirical and humorous poetry makes this investigation relevant. The main research objectives are to turn to the key sources and folk humor means in the lyrical and satirical works by Volodymyr Samiilenko, to trace their interpretation through the prism of the author's approach to the development of new forms and means of socio-political issues comic revealing as well as the formation of poetic satire and humor literary tradition. After outlining the scientific issues relevant for the subject of the study, we analyzed early (1886–1888) satirical poems by Volodymyr Samiilenko. The investigation established that the elements of vernacular vocabulary (lexemes and phrasemes, proverbs) and folk humor peculiar techniques play an important role in means of comic image creation. Furthermore, we found out that early period formed the set of problems and themes the writer addressed in satirical works (criticizing Russian Empire state system, advocating Ukrainian national interests, social and everyday aspects in ordinary people’s lives). The most organic forms of this content were vernacular and folk ones which represent features of Ukrainian mentality. During his career, Volodymyr Samiilenko managed to combine literary and folklore traditions, intellectual humor and culture of popular laughter, which are particularly expressed in the lingual and stylistic features of his idiolect. The writer owes his significant contribution into the evolution of Ukrainian satirical poetry to this approach by providing access to complex social and political problems, integrating folklore forms (humorous songs, kolomyiky) into the literary context and enriching them with new vocabulary, rhythmic and versification. On the one hand, the writer purposefully worked to make the folklore more relevant and, on the other hand, he aimed to strengthen the national literature with the achievements of world classics which led to a significant positive impact on the development of literature and Ukrainian literary language.
