Девіації метафоричних сценаріїв у психотерапевтичному дискурсі Ірвіна Ялома

Abstract

У статті досліджуються лінгвокогнітивні параметри психотерапевтичного дискурсу сучасного американського психотерапевта і письменника Ірвіна Ялома у світлі теорії концептуальної метафори. Метою розвідки є виокремлення й аналіз метафоричних сценаріїв, котрі становлять діапазон концептуальної метафори з цільовим доменом PSYCHOTHERAPY. З’ясовано, що ці сценарії розгортаються у психотерапевтичному дискурсі і типово, і з девіаціями від їхнього типового варіанту. Методологічне підґрунтя дослідження становить методика аналізу метафоричних сценаріїв. Матеріалом для розвідки обрано психотерапевтичні романи Ірвіна Ялома When Nietzsche Wept (1992), The Schopenhauer Cure (2005) та збірки психотерапевтичних оповідок Momma and the Meaning of Life (1999), Staring at the Sun: Overcoming the Terror of Death (2008). Психотерапевтичний дискурс Ірвіна Ялома поєднує ознаки і наукового дискурсу психотерапії, і художнього дискурсу. Навчальна мета автора накладає відбиток на його наратив та на висвітлення дискурсивно значущих фокальних точок метафоричних сценаріїв, котрі об’єктивують у текстах романів концепт PSYCHOTHERAPY. У розвідці розглянуто дискурсивні маніфестації таких метафоричних сценаріїв, що об’єктивують домен цілі: PSYCHOTHERAPY IS LEARNING, PSYCHOTHERAPY IS HEALING, з’ясовано особливості їхнього типового розгортання та розгортання з відхиленнями від типового варіанту у психотерапевтичному дискурсі письменника. Метафоричні сценарії висвітлюють певні концептуальні ознаки домену цілі, тим самим звертаючи увагу читача на ключові ознаки процесу терапії як взаємодії між терапевтом і пацієнтом/пацієнтами. Описано аспекти, які висвітлюються девіантними версіями цих сценаріїв. З’ясовано, що девіації обох метафоричних сценаріїв висвітлюють роль і вплив психотерапевтичної практики на самого терапевта.

The article focuses on investigating psychotherapeutic discourse in view of cognitive linguistic approach. The objective of the present research is to reveal and describe the metaphor scenarios that constitute the range of the conceptual metaphor with the target domain PSYCHOTHERAPY, objectified in the psychotherapeutic discourse. The study is based on the novels When Nietzsche Wept (1992), The Schopenhauer Cure (2005) and the collections of psychotherapeutic tales Momma and the Meaning of Life (1999), Staring at the Sun: Overcoming the Terror of Death (2008) by a contemporary American existential psychiatrist, professor of psychiatry Irvin Yalom, the author of psychotherapeutic fiction and nonfiction. The psychotherapeutic discourse under study is viewed as a specific type of discourse that combines the properties of scientific discourse of individual and group psychotherapy and fiction. The methodology of the practical analysis is based on the Conceptual Metaphor Theory. Specifically, applying the theory of metaphor scenarios, we analyze metaphor scenarios that structure the particular source domains in their discourse manifestations. The research paper discusses the following metaphor scenarios, objectifying the target domain (i.e., the process of group and individual psychotherapy) in the psychotherapeutic discourse: PSYCHOTHERAPY IS LEARNING, PSYCHOTHERAPY IS HEALING. The study reveals that the psychotherapeutic discourse under study is characterized by the use of both the default versions of the metaphor scenarios, and the deviations of their default versions, each revealing essential focal points for conceptualizing the process of psychotherapy practice. The typical versions of the scenarios focus mainly on the traditional understanding of the therapy process, with patient being in the centre of attention. The intentions of the author to make teaching novels and tales place therapist in the focus of attention. The deviations from the default versions of the scenarious reveal the focal points for the therapist-perspective of the therapy practice.
