Abstract

У статті простежуються відносини чеського короля Вацлава ІІ Пршемисловича з німецьким володарем Рудольфом І Габсбургом у середині 80-х – на початку 90-х років ХІІІ ст. Передусім акцентовано на ключових моментах суспільно-політичного життя в Чеському королівстві, яке перебувало під сюзеренітетом Священної Римської імперії. Доведено, що Рудольф I Габсбург підтримував із Вацлавом II, який був його зятем, приязні стосунки та допомагав молодому Пршемисловичеві долати труднощі державного правління, а також сприяв його поверненню в середовище імперської еліти.

Der Artikel zeichnet die Beziehungen zwischen dem tschechischen König Václav II. Pršemyslovych und dem deutschen Herrscher Rudolf I. von Habsburg in der Mitte der 80er und frühen 90er Jahre des 13. Jahrhunderts nach. Zunächst konzentriert es sich auf die Schlüsselmomente des gesellschaftlichen und politischen Lebens im böhmischen Königreich, das unter der Oberhoheit des Heiligen Römischen Reiches stand. Es ist erwiesen, dass Rudolf I. von Habsburg freundschaftliche Beziehungen zu Wenzel II., seinem Schwiegersohn, unterhielt und dem jungen Pršemyslovych half, die Schwierigkeiten der Staatsverwaltung zu überwinden, und auch zu seiner Rückkehr in das Umfeld der kaiserlichen Elite beitrug.

Despite numerous studies on the history of the medieval Czech state, the specific topic of relations between its ruler Vaclav II Přemysl and the German King Rudolf I Habsburg during the mid-1280s to early 1290s has not been the subject of professional research in Ukrainian historiography. This article notes that in 1283, the heir to the Czech throne, Vaclav II, was released from the guardianship of the Margrave of Brandenburg and returned to the Czech Republic. Upon reaching the age of fourteen, he married Guta, the daughter of the Roman King Rudolf I of Habsburg. Rudolf I had been the main enemy of his father, Přemysl Otakar II. Despite their hostile relations, the king supported his son-in-law Vaclav II and helped the young ruler overcome the difficulties he faced in the 1280s. Vaclav II's dynastic relationship with his father-in-law also resulted in Rudolf I restoring the position of imperial arch-chaplain for the Czech king and all his successors, granting them the right to participate in the election of the ruler of the Holy Roman Empire. Thus, the German ruler facilitated Vaclav Přemysl's reintegration into the imperial elite. At the same time, Rudolf I Habsburg was guided by his own interests, as he planned to secure the position of the Holy Roman Emperor for his younger son in future elections. However, certain aspects of the relationship between the two rulers are ambiguously interpreted in historical sources and are the subjects of scholarly debate. Notably, there is a serious controversy regarding the timing of Rudolf I Habsburg's allocation of Bohemia and Moravia as hereditary possessions to Vaclav II. This discussion is also linked to Vaclav II's use of the royal title since his marriage in January 1285, despite his coronation taking place twelve years later according to the rite of anointing and crowning.
