Механізм та джерела метафоризації в англомовній термінології галузі «Лікарські рослини»

Abstract

Стаття присвячена вивченню механізмів та джерел метафоризації англомовних термінів галузі «Лікувальні рослини». Виявлено, що формування метафоричних номінацій відбувається на основі асоціативних зв’язків, зіставлення відмінних ознак лікарських рослин з відомими ознаками людини, живих істот, предметів побуту, назви яких використовуються при створенні термінів. Звертаючись до метафори в процесі термінотворення, ми тим самим усвідомлено виражаємо засобами мови різні асоціативні зв’язки між поняттями і предметами. Основними асоціативними способами формування англомовних термінів галузі «Лікарські рослини» є аналогія за зовнішньою схожістю, функцією, місцем розташування. Найбільш чисельними є терміни, утворені за аналогією зовнішніх ознак. Метафоричі терміни, що утворені за аналогією (схожістю) функції та терміни, що утворені за аналогією з місцем розташування не є чисельними. Аналіз виокремленого методом суцільної вибірки матеріалу загальною кількістю 76 терміноодиниць уможливив виявити три групи метафоричних термінів: антропоморфні, зоосемічні та побутові метафори. Розглянуто джерела метафоризації. До слів-джерел метафоричних антропоморфних утворень належать: власні імена, біблейські імена та імена міфологічних героїв, назви органів і частин тіла людини і назви, що вказують на стан людини. Зоосемізми представлені термінами, утвореними за аналогією з зовнішністю представників фауни та їх частин тіла. Джерелами метафоризації виступають назви ссавців, птахів, плазунів. «Побутова» метафора представлена терміноодиницями, що утворені за аналогією з назвами одягу і його елементів та назвами домашнього побуту. У процесах номінації відбито співвідношення і взаємодію трьох сутностей: слова, поняття і предмету. Множинність способів номінації фіксує різноманіття точок зору на денотат.

The article deals with the study of the mechanisms and sources of metaphorization of the English-language terminology in the sphere of "Medicinal plants". It has been found that the formation of metaphorical nominations is based on the comparison of the distinctive features of medicinal plants with familiar features of people, living beings, household items. Turning to metaphor in the process of term formation, we thereby consciously express various associative connections between concepts and objects through the means of the language. The basic associative methods of forming English-language terms in the field of "Medicinal plants" are analogies based on external similarity, function and location. The most numerous are the terms formed by the similarity of external appearance. Metaphorical terms formed by analogy by function and by analogy by location are scarce. The analysis of the material singled out by the continuous sampling method with a total number of 76 terms made it possible to identify three groups of metaphorical terms: anthropomorphic, zoosemic and household metaphors. Sources of metaphorization have been considered. Source words of metaphorical anthropomorphic terms include: proper names, biblical names and names of mythological heroes, names of organs and parts of the human body, and names indicating the state of a person. Zooseisms are represented by terms formed by analogy with the appearance of representatives of the fauna and their body parts, with the sources of metaphorization being names of mammals, birds, and reptiles. The "household" metaphor is represented by the terms formed by analogy with the names of clothing and their elements and the names of household items. The process of nomination reflected the relationship and interaction of three entities: word, concept and subject. The multiplicity of nomination methods captures the diversity of viewpoints on the denotation.
