Спеціальна термінологія у художньому тексті: перекладознавчий аспект (на матеріалі роману Тесс Геррістен «Хірург»)

Abstract

Стаття присвячена актуальному питанню передачі спеціалізованої термінології, зокрема медичної та криміналістичної, в контексті художнього перекладу. На прикладі англомовного роману Тесс Геррістен «Хірург» досліджується вплив точності перекладу термінів на збереження автентичності оригіналу та забезпечення адекватного сприйняття тексту читачем. Дослідження охоплює широкий спектр питань, включаючи теоретичні основи перекладу термінології, класифікацію термінів у різних галузях знань та розробку методологічних підходів до їх відтворення в художньому тексті. Особлива увага приділяється практичному застосуванню теоретичних положень на матеріалі конкретного літературного твору. Одним із ключових питань статті є вибір оптимальної стратегії перекладу для кожного конкретного терміна. У роботі аналізуються різноманітні методи перекладу, такі як словниковий відповідник, транслітерація, контекстуальна адаптація, описовий переклад та калькування, а також їхні комбінації. На основі емпіричного матеріалу формулюються висновки щодо ефективності різних стратегій у залежності від контексту. Для систематизації зібраних даних створюється спеціалізований термінологічний словник з використанням сучасних лексикографічних інструментів. Словник містить не лише переклад термінів, а й детальну інформацію про їхнє вживання в оригіналі та перекладі, що сприяє глибшому розумінню їхньої семантики та функцій. Результати дослідження демонструють, що відтворення спеціалізованої термінології в художньому перекладі є складним завданням, яке вимагає від перекладача високого рівня професійної компетентності та глибоких знань як у галузі мовознавства, так і в галузях, до яких належить термінологія. Стаття пропонує практичні рекомендації для перекладачів, що працюють з текстами, які містять спеціальну термінологію, і може бути корисною для викладачів, науковців та всіх, хто цікавиться питаннями перекладу.

The article is devoted to the topical issue of rendering specialized terminology, in particular medical and forensic terminology in the context of literary translation. Based on the example of Tess Gerristen's English-language novel “The Surgeon”, the article examines the impact of accuracy of translation terms on preserving the authenticity of the original and ensuring adequate perception of the text by the reader. The study covers a wide range of issues, including the theoretical foundations of terminology translation, classification of terms in various fields of knowledge and the development of methodological approaches to their reproduction in a literary text. Particular attention is paid to the practical application of of theoretical provisions on the material of a particular literary work. One of the of the key issues of the article is the choice of the optimal translation strategy for each particular term. The paper analyzes various translation methods, such as dictionary equivalence, transliteration, contextual adaptation, descriptive translation, and calquing, as well as their combinations. Based on the empirical empirical material, conclusions are drawn about the effectiveness of different strategies depending on on the context. To systematize the collected data, a specialized terminology dictionary is created using modern lexicographic tools. The dictionary contains not only the translation of terms, but also detailed information about their use in the original and translation, which contributes to a broader understanding of their semantics and functions. The results of the study demonstrate that the reproduction of specialized terminology in literary translation is a complex task that requires a translator to have a high level of professional competence and deep knowledge of both linguistics and the fields to which the terminology belongs. The article offers practical recommendations for translators working with texts containing special terminology and may be useful for teachers, researchers and anyone interested in translation.
