Abstract:	Розкривається зміст основних понять геополітики, які були введені в обіг Хелфордом Макіндером. Крізь призму цих понять розглядається місце України в системі «Стратегічний Хартленд» (Х. Маккіндер). Окреслюються умови, за яких Україна спроможна виконати ту роль, яка відводиться їй у цій системі. The content of the main concepts of geopolitics, which were put into practice by the Halford Maсkinder, is defined. Through the prism of these concepts the place of Ukraine in the system of “Strategic heartland” (H. Maсkinder) is discussed. The author outlines conditions under which Ukraine is able to fulfill the role that is given to it in this system.
