| Abstract: | The study analyzes the state-legal situation of the Transcarpathian region and the Hungarian and Hungarian related plans in this respect between 1918 and 2006. In the interwar period the official Hungarian government supported the autonomy plans of the region only in order to ensure the loyalty of the local population and for the sake of the revision. In the soviet era the only opportunity of ethnic minorities to preserve their national identity was through culture. Ukraine provides space for social and political associations of ethnic minorities, Hungarians of which are the most active today. One of their most important goals is to achieve the autonomous Hungarian education territory. |
