Художня рецепція війни в Україні у французькому романі (на матеріалі твору Марка Леві «Симфонія монстрів»)

Abstract

У статті досліджено художню рецепцію війни в Україні у французькому романі Марка Леві «Симфонія монстрів». Твір розглянуто як приклад літературного осмислення сучасної російсько-української війни та її гуманітарних наслідків. Акцентовано увагу на символічному та художньому осмисленні таких важливих тем, як викрадення українських дітей, знищення культурної спадщини, насильницька асиміляція. Дослідження розкриває персоналізований підхід до зображення трагедії війни через історію головного героя роману – дев’ятирічного хлопчика, чий образ стає метафорою беззахисності та одночасно сили духу українського народу. Проаналізовано хронотоп роману, що базується на реальних подіях та локусах, зокрема українських містах і селах, які страждають від наслідків війни. Символічні образи, пов’язані з культурою та побутом українців, виступають як основа національного образу. Виявлено, що роман «Симфонія монстрів» поєднує художню вигадку з документальними фактами, створюючи емоційно насичену репрезентацію сучасної війни. Літературний дискурс у творі слугує тлом для осмислення війни не лише як військового конфлікту, а як глобальної загрози, що торкається гуманістичних цінностей. Результати дослідження свідчать про еволюцію сприйняття українського образу в європейському літературному просторі. В українському гетерообразі підкреслено такі риси, як сміливість, винахідливість, відданість традиціям і боротьба за свободу. У той же час, роман демонструє дихотомію між образом України як гуманістичної сили та образом агресора, який уособлює антигуманність. Дійдено висновку, що роман Леві є важливим інструментом для адекватного висвітлення російсько-української війни – він виконує роль як інформування про події війни, так і популяризації української ідеї, ідентичності.

The article examines the artistic reception of the war in Ukraine in the French novel The Symphony of Monsters by Marc Levy. The work is considered as an example of literary perception of the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian war and its humanitarian consequences. Attention is focused on the symbolic and artistic understanding of such important topics as the abduction of Ukrainian children, the destruction of cultural heritage, forced assimilation. The study reveals a personalised approach to depicting the tragedy of war through the story of the novel's protagonist, a nine-year-old boy whose image becomes a metaphor for the defencelessness and, at the same time, the strength of the Ukrainian people's spirit. The article analyses the novel's chronotope, which is based on real events and locations, in particular, Ukrainian cities and villages suffering from the consequences of the war. Symbolic images associated with the culture and life of Ukrainians serve as the basis for the formation of the national image in the eyes of the French reader. It has been found that the novel The Symphony of Monsters combines fiction with documentary facts, creating an emotionally rich representation of the modern war. The literary discourse in the work serves as a background for understanding war not only as a military conflict, but also as a global threat that affects humanistic values. The results of the study show the evolution of the perception of the Ukrainian image in the European literary space. The Ukrainian hetero-image emphasises such traits as courage, ingenuity, devotion to traditions and the struggle for freedom. At the same time, the novel demonstrates the dichotomy between the image of Ukraine as a humanistic force and the image of the aggressor, which embodies inhumanity. It is concluded that Levy's novel is an important tool for forming an adequate understanding of the Russian-Ukrainian war among the European audience – it serves to inform about the events of the war and to promote the Ukrainian idea and identity.
