Метафізичний дискурс їжі в романах Софії Андрухович «Фелікс Австрія» та Джоан Гарріс «Шоколад»

Abstract

У статті досліджується метафізичний дискурс їжі в романах Софії Андрухович «Фелікс Австрія» та Джоан Гарріс «Шоколад». Метафізичний дискурс у художньому творі оприявнюється через художнє мислення автора, його інтуїтивний досвід, а також через художню антропологію, що включає тілесний і духовний аспекти буття людини. С. Андрухович та Дж. Гарріс відображають художній світ романів крізь призму світовідчування персонажів, для котрих їжа, кулінарія є важливим онтологічним модусом. Обидва твори написані в першоособовій нарації, з використанням щоденникової форми, завдяки чому письменницям вдається актуалізувати спогади, надати романам сповідальної інтонації. Відзначено, що їжа в романах виконує світоглядну функцію, є способом самовираження персонажів, виявом підсвідомого, і таким чином репрезентує культурно-філософську парадигму твору. Суб’єктивація, особливе сприйняття персонажами їжі й кулінарії оприявнює в романах метафізичний вимір: в української авторки – через ілюзійне сприйняття героїнею дійсності, у британської – через магію, елементом якої стає кулінарія. Концепт їжі в романах С. Андрухович «Фелікс Австрія» та Дж. Гарріс «Шоколад» містить символічні сенси, які продукуються через світосприймання персонажів, і оприявнюють філософсько-метафізичний дискурс творів. У романах їжа корелює з важливими метафізичними категоріями буття людини, такими як: свобода, життя, смерть, щастя, любов. Концепт їжі також актуалізує культурно-релігійні моделі, якими керуються головні героїні: світорозуміння Стефи ґрунтується на християнській доктрині, Віанни – на поганській. Кулінарія для обох героїнь є засобом самовираження, допомагає подолати внутрішній страх і знайти своє місце у світі. Компаративний та концептний аналіз художніх творів дає можливість глибше зрозуміти та інтерпретувати творчість письменника, його філософування, спосіб творення художньої картини світу, тому пропоноване дослідження є перспективним.

The article examines the metaphysical discourse of food in the novels “Felix Austria” by Sofia Andruhovych and “Chocolate” by Joanne Harris. The metaphysical discourse in the work of art is manifested through the artistic thinking of the author, his intuitive experience, and through artistic anthropology, which includes the physical and spiritual aspects of human existence. Both writers, S. Andruhovych and J. Harris create the artistic world of their novels through the prism of the character’s worldviews. So, cooking is an essential ontological modus. The first person narrates the story in both novels. The diary form actualises the characters’ memories and confessional intonation. It is noted that food in the novel performs a worldview function, is a way of self-expression of the author and the characters, a manifestation of the subconscious, and thus represents the cultural and philosophical paradigm of the novel. Subjectivisation, the characters’ unique perception of food and cooking, reveals a metaphysical discourse in the novels: in the novel of the Ukrainian author – through the illusory perception of reality by the heroine; in the novel of the British – through magic, the element of which is cooking. The concept of food in the novels of S. Andruhovych “Felix Austria” and J. Harris “Chocolate” contains symbolic meanings, which are produced through the world perception of the characters and reveal the philosophical and metaphysical discourse of the works. In novels, food correlates with important metaphysical categories of human existence, such as freedom, life, death, happiness, and love. The food concept also actualises the cultural and religious models guided by the main characters: Stefa’s worldview is based on Christian doctrine and Vianna’s pagan doctrine. For both heroines, cooking is a means of self-expression and helps them overcome inner fear and find their place in the world. Comparative and conceptual analysis of the novels provides an opportunity to understand better and interpret the work of the writer, his philosophising, and the way of creating an artistic picture of the world.
