Мовні засоби творення образів-персонажів у романі Марії Матіос «Майже ніколи не навпаки»

Abstract

У статті здійснено спробу проаналізувати авторські мовні засоби для створення образів-персонажів у художній прозі Марії Матіос. Письменниця послуговується як лексичним, так і синтаксичним мовними рівнями, використовуючи, зокрема, і засоби народнорозмовної мови. Зазначено, що образ героя художнього твору формують різні характеристики: портрет, опис зовнішнього вигляду, фізичні особливості, психологічні стани, внутрішній світ, ставлення до оточення тощо. Всі ці ознаки мають персонажі Марії Матіос, які діють в різних обставинах, але саме ці ознаки визначають їх поведінку в цих обставинах. На основі аналізу художнього тексту виявлено, що для портретної характеристики авторка використовує як прямі означення, так і описові конструкції. Важливим є те, що письменниця додає психологічну деталь для увиразнення опису персонажів. Зокрема, такою деталлю в портреті є очі, меншою мірою губи. Багато уваги у тексті приділено змалюванню зовнішнього вигляду героїв, певних фізичних особливостей, вад. І хоча вони є лише фоном, на якому проступає внутрішній світ персонажа, все ж мають важливе значення для формування взаємовідносин між дійовими особами і у деяких випадках визначають подальшу трагічну долю героїв. Значною кількістю прикладів представлене у тексті змалювання внутрішніх станів головних героїв, таких як біль, страх, любов, зневага тощо. Важливе значення мають і зовнішні характеристики, такі як соціальний чи матеріальний статус, сімейний стан тощо. Для опису усіх названих вище характеристик письменниця послуговується різними мовними засобами, найчастіше означеннями. Та найбільшою кількістю представлені тропи, серед яких чільне місце посідають порівняння, виражені прийменниковими структурами або у формі орудного відмінка іменника, а також метафори, як прості, так і розгорнуті, Найбільшою, групою мовних засобів образотворення виступають сталі вирази. Саме фразеологізми Марія Матіос використовує для змалювання різних характеристик персонажів. Не менш вдалим засобом характеротворення у прозі М.Матіос є просторічна лексика. Оскільки події розвиваються у сільській місцевості, такий спосіб мовлення виступає додатковою зовнішньою ознакою персонажів. Щодо структурних особливостей таких конструкцій, то варто зауважити, що вони різнотипні: від слів-характеристик до складних речень.

This article attempts to analyze the author's linguistic tools for creating character images in the artistic prose of Maria Matios. The writer employs both lexical and syntactic levels of language, utilizing elements of colloquial speech. It is noted that a character’s image in a literary work is shaped by various characteristics: portrait, description of appearance, physical traits, psychological states, inner world, and attitude toward others. All these features are inherent in the characters of Maria Matios, who act in different circumstances, yet these very features define their behavior within those circumstances. Based on an analysis of the literary text, it has been identified that the author employs both direct definitions and descriptive constructions for portrait characterization. An important aspect is that the writer adds psychological details to enhance character descriptions. In particular, the eyes, and to a lesser extent, the lips, serve as significant details in character portraits. A great deal of attention in the text is given to the depiction of the characters’ physical appearance, specific physical features, and impairments. Although these aspects serve as a background against which the character's inner world emerges, they are crucial in shaping relationships between characters and, in some cases, determining their subsequent tragic fate. The text contains numerous examples illustrating the depiction of the protagonists' inner states, such as pain, fear, love, and contempt. External characteristics, such as social or material status and family situation, also play a significant role. To describe all of the above-mentioned characteristics, the writer employs various linguistic means, primarily adjectives. However, artistic devices and phraseological expressions are the most extensively represented. Among tropes, comparisons – expressed through prepositional structures or in the instrumental case of a noun – hold a prominent place, along with metaphors, both simple and extended. The largest group of linguistic means used for character portrayal consists of set expressions. Maria Matios predominantly utilizes phraseological units to depict different character traits. Another effective means of characterization in M. Matios' prose is colloquial vocabulary. Since the events take place in a rural setting, this speech style serves as an additional external characteristic of the characters. Regarding the structural peculiarities of these constructions, it is worth noting that they are diverse, ranging from single- word characterizations to complex sentences.
