Митрополит Андрей Шептицький (1865-1944) та пошуки порозуміння з православними в контексті ідеї «візантиїзації» Греко-Католицької Церкви

Abstract

У статті розглядаються основні напрями діяльності та заходи, здійснені митрополитом Андреєм Шептицьким щодо взаємодії з православним населенням на території сучасної України в міжвоєнний період. На основі вже відомих архівних документів та публікацій автори намагалися показати роль Української ГрекоКатолицької Церкви у процесі співпраці християнських церковних установ України зазначеного періоду. Під час опрацювання матеріалів окрему увагу було приділено вивченню ідей митрополита Шептицького, що були спрямовані на створення єдиної Соборної української православної церкви, а також ідеї повернення до візантійських витоків християнства як можливої об'єднуючої сили українського суспільства. В статье рассматриваются основные направления деятельности и мероприятия, осуществленные митрополитом Андреем Шептицким по взаимодействию с православным населением на территории современной Украины в межвоенный период. На основе уже известных архивных документов и публикаций авторы пытались показать роль Украинской Греко-Католической Церкви в процессе сотрудничества христианских церковных учреждений Украины указанного периода. В ходе исследования материалов отдельное внимание было уделено изучению идей митрополита Шептицкого, направленных на создание единой Соборной Украинской Православной Церкви, а также идеи возвращения к византийским истокам христианства как возможной объединяющей силы украинского общества. The work of the Metropolitan of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church of the beginning of the XX century Andrey Sheptytsky in relation to the Orthodox Ukrainian population in the context of his idea of the Byzantineization of the GCC and the creation of a single Ukrainian Christian Church is considered. The issue of interaction of the Metropolitan and the Orthodox clergy of the Russian Empire, and later – the USSR is separately considered. The main directions of the metropolitan's activity in a question of rapprochement of Christian churches are defined. The problem of relations with the Orthodox Church is shown against the background of the process of reforming the GCC. The main activity of the Metropolitan in this matter is active cooperation and maintaining diplomatic correspondence with church leaders of Ukraine. The idea of the Byzantineization of the GCC consists in partial return of the Christian Church to the sources of ritual, the cradle of which was the Byzantine Empire. In this plane, according to the Metropolitan, Christians both Orthodox Christians, and Greek Catholic should look for a common ground. Reforming the GСC in that case will bring closer Greek Catholics to the Orthodox tradition. The main areas of reforming are liturgy, monasticism, the introduction of the Ukrainian language in daily church use and the creation in Lviv of theological academy. Such attempts to change for centuries the established charter of church life caused rough reaction, mostly negative, in the Ukrainian society. To promote the idea of uniting Ukrainian churches in a single Christian Church, Metropolitan Sheptytsky created an institution for training specialists among clergy on issues of unification. To spread the idea of reunification, monastic orders, which promoted unity in the territory of the Western Ukraine were actively used. This also includes the organization of the Russian Catholic Church. The activity of Andrey Sheptytsky was aimed at finding mutual understanding between representatives of all Christian trends in Ukraine.
