Лексико-семантичний та синтаксичний способи вербалізації концепту АМЕРИКА

Abstract

Стаття присвячена питанню актуалізації концепту АМЕРИКА в сучасних українських газетних текстах. Аналіз мовних одиниць, що об’єктивують досліджуваний концепт, свідчить про неоднакові способи його репрезентації в концептуальній системі мовців. Виходячи з цього, авторка доходить висновку, що концепт АМЕРИКА актуалізується двома способами: шляхом найменування Америки як країни та шляхом найменування американських реалій (території, населення, артефактів тощо). Для цього використовуються мовні одиниці різних рівнів, а саме: однослівні назви-іменники, прийменниково- іменникові конструкції, словосполучення (дво- і багатокомпонентні). The overview of researches devoted to the study of concepts testifies to the fact that linguists mostly concentrate on the concepts referring to objects and phenomena that are directly imperceptible. However, the concepts of countries and parts of the world are still poorly studied and this fact predetermines the topicality of our research. The aim of our scientific research is to describe the ways of linguistic foregrounding of the concept AMERICA in modern Ukrainian newspaper texts. Achievement of the set aim presupposes performing the following tasks: to process the theoretical material concerning the issue of concept verbalization; to collect text fragments where the concept AMERICA is foregrounded; to determine the ways to objectivate the concept under research. The analysis of language units foregrounding the concept AMERICA testifies to various ways of its representation in the speakers’ conceptual system. Taking this into account we have singled out two ways to foreground the concept AMERICA in modern Ukrainian newspaper texts. The first is by naming America as a country (USA, America, US, the States, the United States of America, over the ocean, etc.) and by naming American realia (territories, population, artifacts, etc.). To verbalize the concept under analysis language units of different levels are used, namely: oneword nouns without a conjunction, conjunctional-nounal constructions, collocations (two- and multicomponent).
