| Description: | In this article the question of implementation of judgments of the European Court of Human Rights as a special category of documents on the territory of Ukraine is considered. The author examines the problems arising in this regard. Attention is drawn to the fact that these decisions of international judicial body are important to protect the rights and freedoms of man and citizen and are aimed at avoiding similar violations of constitutional values in the future. The article states that the question of implementation of judgments of the European Court of Human Rights in Ukraine is a key issue. This international courts body has repeatedly expressed its concern about the absence or insufficiency of domestic legal defense mechanism associated with the failure or improper execution of judgments. This article analyzes the current legislation of Ukraine to implement the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights. The author notes the difficulties that arise in the application of general and individual character measures, as well as payment of a just satisfaction. Attention is paid to the fact that for Ukraine, which aspires to become a full member of the European Union, the timely and full implementation of the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights is an important task as it’s connected with the international commitments of our country. In Ukraine, the implementation of these functions is assigned to a specially created body - the state executive service, which implements the obligations of the state on the decisions of the international court. The author provides reasonable proposals to eliminate problems which arise in practice while performing the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights in Ukraine, and stresses the need for reforms in this area.
