Особливості трансформаційних процесів в Україні та Росії: партійний вимір

Abstract

Political parties and party systems are one of the fundamental institutions of the modern society without which society’s transformation cannot be implemented, hence modern democracy is often called ‘party democracy’. The author analyses influence of the party systems of Ukraine and Russia upon the processes of transformation in these countries. The author uses the quantitative approach, especially the index of democratization, for the purpose of studying the influence of the parties on the transformational processes. In virtue of this the author draws a conclusion that in Ukraine and Russia a tendency towards a decrease of the political parties’ impact on the development of political processes has been recently observed.
