Abstract:	The article deals with the analysis of poetics of the Austrian short story and takes into the focus the characteristics of images and motifs in the texts of Ingeborg Bachmann. The works of the Austrian writer enriched the German short prose with original artistic masterpieces. A wide spectrum of views on the events in the 20th century present in the Austrian society has been reflected in Ingeborg Bachmann’s works. У статті проаналізовано поетику австрійської малої прози крізь призму характеристики образів та мотивів текстів Інґеборґ Бахманн. Австрійська письменниця відтворила у своїй творчості широкий спектр уявлень австрійського суспільства про перипетії ХХ ст.
