| Abstract: | The paper considers the events which favoured the dissemination of the Ukrainian language and more simple characters (hrazhdanka) in the schools of Transcarpathia in the second half of the 18th – early 19th centuries, namely: (i) the Vienna meeting of 1773, (ii) the school reform of 1777 in Hungary, (iii) the ABC-book by Ioan Kutka of 1797, (iv) the educational project by Andriy Bachynsky, the Bishop of Mukachevo (1807), (v) amendments made by H. Tarkovych to the project by Andriy Bachynsky. |
