Роль інтонації у процесі декодування семантики висловлювання в англійській мові

Abstract

У статті по-новому розглядається усталена традиційна фонетична дескрипція. Інтонацію та інтонаційне оформлення речення та висловлювань розглянуто як основу для декодування семантики самого висловлювання або значення повідомлення з метою здійснення ефективної комунікації. На основі моделі комунікації описано та досліджено сценарії декодування інтонації та інтонаційного оформлення висловлювання. З’ясовано, що інтонація розглядається не як ізольований феномен і не як додатковий розділ до фонетики або синтаксису, а як рівноправний мовний засіб, який бере участь у передачі змістової сторони вислову як основної одиниці мовного спілкування. Процес декодування розглянуто з позицій перетворення символів на значення, тому інтонація на цьому етапі здійснення процесу комунікації відіграє вирішальне значення. Визначено основну рису процесу декодування висловлювання, а саме, що смисл виникає як результат інтерпретації не лише змісту, а й інтонаційного оформлення самого висловлювання. Визначено функції інтонації та різні типи значень. Встановлено, що інтонація – це складна система значень, що передається через підвищення та зниження голосу мовця, з метою реалізації функцій комунікації. Зроблено висновок, що, що кожен зі сценаріїв комунікації пов’язаний з функціями інтонації, а саме з функцією ставлення, фокусуючою функцією (акцентуаційною або інформаційною), когезійною функцією, психологічною функцією. У ході дослідження уточнено, що за допомогою інтонації висловлювання набувають значення питання, спонукання, прохання, повідомлення, а також виокремлено емоційно-смислове забарвлення окремих висловлювань, репрезентуючи стан та настрій автора. Підтверджено, що носії англійської мови використовують інтонацію для передачі різних типів значень, а саме: граматичних значень, статусу інформації, ставлення, почуття, тощо.

The article examines the established traditional phonetic description in a new way. Intonation and pattern of sentences and statements are considered as a basis for decoding the semantics of the statement or the meaning of the message for the purpose of effective communication. On the basis of the communication model, the scenarios of intonation decoding and intonation patterns of utterances are described and investigated. It was found that intonation is considered not as an isolated phenomenon and not as an additional section to phonetics or syntax, but as an equal language tool that participates in the transmission of the content side of the utterance as the main unit of language communication. The decoding process is considered from the point of view of converting symbols into values, so intonation plays a crucial role at this stage of the communication process. The main feature of the process of decoding the utterance is defined, namely, that the meaning arises as a result of the interpretation of not only the content, but also the intonation design of the utterance. Intonation functions and different types of values are defined. It has been established that intonation is a complex system of values transmitted through the rise and fall of the speaker's voice in order to implement communication functions. It was concluded that each of the communication scenarios is related to the functions of intonation, namely, the attitude function, the focusing function (accentuating or informative), the cohesive function, and the psychological function. In the course of the study, it was clarified that with the help of the intonation of the utterances, questions, incentives, requests, messages acquire meaning, and the emotional and semantic coloring of individual utterances, representing the state and mood of the author, was also highlighted. It has been confirmed that native English speakers use intonation to convey different types of meanings, namely: grammatical meanings, information status, attitudes, feelings, etc.
