Abstract

In this article the formation of party system in Poland in conditions of transition from totalitarianism to democracy is considered. The author of the article has defined main factors, which had made the essential influence on the development of the party system. Thus, during its evolution the party system of Poland has overcome a political fragmentation that is one of criteria of its consolidation. However, significant enough part of voters changes the sights during the period between elections that testifies to instability of party system of the country. The elective system of Poland proportional at all levels of formation of representation authorities, elections to the Parliament establish 5% barrier to parties and 8% – for elective blocks, that considerably influences process of becoming of party system. The party system of Poland has passed becoming from initial multi-party system to system of moderate pluralism.
